Howard Johnson by Wyndham Albany

The staff at the front desk were great, but the male housekeeper was very rude. I had a DO NOT DISTURB... SLEEPING sign up on the door and he opened the door twice. I told him NO THANK YOU and he just continued coming in. I told him again, I need nothing so please let me sleep. He still continued. I finally got up and said to please leave because I am trying to sleep and closed the door.

Liked: Dirty old smelly.I apparently reserved a smoking room through bookings.com..I didn’t think that was possible in 2025! I didn’t pay attention until it was time to check in!My wife said you checked in to a smoking room, I said that’s not possible no one has a smoking room. When we got to the hotel, I really wanna do turnaround and walk out because it was very old rundown and disgusting.I asked the guy at the front desk. My reservation says smoking is that true? He said yeah, you booked it through a third-partyI said, is it possible to get a non-smoking room? He said no, because you checked in with bookings.com that usBecause it was almost midnight, I did not want to call bookings.com. Try to get my money back.We had a bare light switches in the bathroom window plate covering the outletSeveral other things that would be up to code in a third world countryI have pictures

Very good

Liked: Nice affordable spot for a quick overnight stay. Only 10 minutes from downtown. Clean, everything in the room worked. Polite staff. Quick check in. Would consider staying here again in the future.
Disliked: Property is on a very high traffic street. Bed was really firm.

Pool Oasis

Liked: Fantastic stay at family run hotel, loved the pool and the manicured grounds. Room was very clean and comfortable, coffee in room and for bfast downstairs. Great housekeeping everything was very clean and quiet. AC worked amazing through 100 degree heat kept us comfy, good hot water and water pressure with complementary soap/shampoo/conditioner. Good TV selection. And the staff are so friendly! Thank you guys!

Disliked: Old building, low ceilings, poorly maintained exterior of the property. Lawn needed to be mowed and general exterior upkeep needed. Dated bathroom.

Liked: Convenient to UAlbany. Got a few rooms for the Aunts and Uncles coming in to see my son Graduating.
Disliked: The full beds were small, not ideal for two people. The breakfast fast area just had cornflakes and whole milk. No coffee creamer.

Exceptional

Liked: Gorgeous spacious room with a couch that was a pull up bed. Renovated I think it wa very clean. The shower curtain fell on me during a shower and they fixed it so fast. The bed was comfortable. The shower was hot the pressure was perfect. The pool is clean and outdoors
Disliked: There wasn't anything I didn't like
