The staff were not polite upon checking in - vague with directions to Englert Theater. There was no book containing hotel information/local info/room service menu in the room . The room had a view of the roof with broken lawn chairs and patio umbrellas. It was not as great as the website photos; no TV channel guide. I was trying to build up the room since we paid $170, saying it was modernistic, and my fiance replied "yeah, 1970's". He was right. Normally don't write reviews, rarely negative ones, but had to on this one. Disappointed.

Liked: Close to theater and the Ped Mall.
Disliked: Staff; room view; lack of amenities.

Liked: All staff interactions were great. Check in was one of the quickest & easiest I have ever had. Very quiet even with its location being right on the downtown Ped Mall. Room was very comfortable.
Disliked: Parking structure is city owned, not controlled by the hotel. Large portions of the ramp were closed down for unstated reasons during a city sponsored large scale event on a Saturday. Parking filled up due to lack of available spaces

Could been much cleaner

Liked: Nice location
Disliked: Not clean. Friends found a fingernail on the window sill. Our room and especially the balcony weren’t clean. Rooms were NOT ready at check in…had to wait on the lobby with all our stuff hobo’s.

Liked: Location was perfect. Walking distance to concert and many restaurants.
Disliked: The parking garage for the hotel is public parking as well. There was a block party that weekend and there was no parking available. On-site parking is a must for me.

Liked: I love the clean, uncluttered, lightly carpet rooms; the neutral colors; the tasteful artwork; the big windows; the inexpensive parking; the friendly and helpful staff; the connection to the Bread Garden and proximity to the ped-mall. I love being in Iowa City.
Disliked: I really enjoyed the sparkling, clean bathtub, but a stepstool might have been helpful. I had to climb in very carefully.

Disliked: 15 dollar parking, but that’s expected when staying in the city in my opinion
