Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

We stayed here in February 2010 for a weekend. We had tickets to a show at the Majestic Theater and chose the Valencia because it is only a block down Houston. We got the Theater lovers' package, which included dinner at Citrus. (Reservations were still required at Citrus, even though we had booked the package, FYI.) Only complaint about Citrus was that the tables are way too close to each other. We sat near a table of four and it felt like we were all at the same table. Not conducive to intimacy. Hotel itself is beautiful. Yes, it is dark, but that is the atmosphere they are going for. I don't recommend this hotel for kids, although we saw some kids staying there. The bed was nice and comfy, the bathroom nicely appointed and everything was immaculately clean. We used the valet parking, which is free if you eat in Citrus. Very prompt when we called for our car. The hotel is on the "deserted" end of the San Antonio Riverwalk, meaning, very quiet. If you want more excitement, or to be closer to the fun on the RW, then stay elsewhere. But for quiet, the Valencia is the place to stay. It's a little more expensive than some other locations, but well worth it.

Disliked: Bathroom door wasn’t your traditional door. It had gaps on sides when closed and air escaped through when someone had to use the bathroom.

Not what I was expecting

Liked: The location was nice and the staff were also nice and helpful the room was clean and the best thing was their bed was super comfortable.
Disliked: I found an old sock of someone else thrown on the floor that made me really uncomfortable. Also they didn’t have parking lots I had to pay 45$ in public parking for one day.
