Hotel UTO KULM - car-free

Not even close to expectations

Liked: Views and location are a fun novelty. Sauna is a bonus.
Disliked: Communication, customer service, cleanliness of the room.Upon booking this accommodation, I was aware of the difficulties of access. However, we were left stranded at the train station after being told that was an option for travel, only to be then told the train is out of service until October and that we need to catch 2 replacement buses. The communication for this was a questionable 4 page pdf with conflicting information.After arriving, we were placed in a room that didn't have a working ceiling fan, half of the lights didn't turn on and the shower was filthy.During our stay, we had "cleaners" enter our room daily who seem to only straighten up the bed linen. We had 2 dirty coffee cups and glasses(provided by the hotel) sitting on our table for 3 days without being removed or cleaned.I also enquired about the sauna at reception in which the staff member proceeded to give my door pass access but gave no information regarding the use. I had to ask about times that I could go and the response was given as if I should've known. It wasn't until the second night of requesting access that I was given a bath robe.During this entire stay we were aware that we booked a "cheaper" room, but didn't realise we would be treated like second-rate humans due to this pricing.

Fantastic and good value for...

Liked: The location of UTO Hotel in Zurich was truly stunning, with breathtaking views all around. While the uphill walk was occasionally challenging for my elderly parents, the experience was made much smoother thanks to the incredibly responsive, respectful, and helpful staff. Their hospitality made a real difference. I’d gladly return in the future.Breakfast was somewhere between basic and great — a solid spread, though offering made-to-order hot dishes like omelettes or pancakes would take it to the next level. I arrived just as the kitchen was closing, but the team still let me order. The dining staff and waiters were attentive, professional, and on point. Big credit to their service culture.
Disliked: A few suggestions: clearer public transport instructions (like where to find the bus stop, how to buy tickets, maybe even share a photo of the stop). When we arrived, we didn’t know you couldn’t buy tickets on the bus, which was a bit frustrating. I share this feedback because I genuinely enjoyed my experience and want future guests to have it even smoother.”

Disliked: The travel hotel was not great we where not informed that trains won't running to the station near the hotel.

Superb relaxing break

Liked: Wow, what can I say, it was an absolutely amazing hotel, stunning location on top of Zurich. Views to die for hotel was clean and really comfortable. The street food cabin was a great place with some great food available
Disliked: Everything to be honest. Great for walks around the forest Great foodOvertons and very friendly staff

Liked: stunning veiws, rooms very pretty, clean and comfortable, the on site spa facilities are amazing!
Disliked: the on site resteraunt is very costly but is sort of the only option for proper food besides a snack shack kinda thing
