Noisy dump. Don’t be misled...

Liked: This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. While the hotel had high ratings on bookings.com and the pictures looked quaint, the reality is the opposite. There is no lobby or any kind of organized process for check in. Noise travels so you can hear every footstep and word uttered by the other guests, and there is no shower, it is poor value for the money and the management is not professional at all. Because of the lack of lobby or check in procedures, another guest was mistakenly given my room key and barged in on me while I was taking an afternoon nap. Then, the hotel manager barged into my room himself. We left the hotel and checked into Lady Hamilton down the street which is a much nicer, quieter and professionally run operation, and much better value for the money.
Disliked: Horrible experience all around. Noisy dump. Don’t be misled by the photos. Gamla Stan has far better, cheaper options.

This property was more like...

Liked: I have stayed in Stockholm before and so understand the constraints of a small city hotel there. However I was very disappointed this time. This was due, primarily, to the size of the room. There was not enough room for our luggage. I did see in to some other rooms which were larger but this room did not marry to the expectations derived from the photos viewed when booking. I was not expecting there to be no actual reception. The room was at the very top of the premises and even if I had seen the small note at the end of the booking information about there not being an elevator I wouldn't have been prepared for the incredibly narrow, twisting steep staircase to the top dragging 25kg suitcases. In future it should be stated boldly that this property is not suitable for anyone over a certain age with luggage. In the end I had to book a second property for my daughter at great expense as we could not both fit in this room.
Disliked: No reception, ridiculous stairs, no space.

Liked: Delicious homemade food. Central location for walking to sites.

Liked: Outstanding location and a diverse, plentiful breakfast served by incredibly professional and kind staff. We'll definitely be coming back.

Great old hotel with great...

Liked: The location was perfect - right in the middle of gamla stan. And we loved the character of the old hotel - we had the top floor rooms and while the bathroom was a bit cramped we loved the extra space. Also, the breakfast was amazing.

A wonderful start to a...

Liked: The oldness and character, lovely. Great shower, comfy beds, lovely breakfast. And location was wonderful!
Disliked: Had a bit of difficulty managing the stairs with suitcases, but was doable.
