New go-to accommodation
Liked: They have a pool table in the basement to play with and a modern coffee machine in the lobby with tasty coffee (that one got me <3). The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. Even if the place is overall moderate with nothing fancy or modern about it, my experience with the staff (and coffee machine) made the place worth a high rating.

Good for a one night stay to explore Montreal
Liked: Spacious rooms, clean, helpful staff. Covered public parking nearby for a good price (14$ for a day) you can stop in front of the hotel for check in/out. Metro station at 2 mins walk, with a busy restaurant street also, in the other direction, the Old Town is roughly 15 mins walk.
Disliked: It was a cold day out, and fortunately the heating in the room was working but it was way too warm inside! We had to open the windows to cool it down a bit as didn't find how to regulate it. A pity for the wasted energy. The bathroom was functional but in need of a renovation - as the whole hotel building, it seems. Everything was working and relatively clean, so no complaint on that side, but it is clearly outdated. Also a bit more lights would be welcome in the room.

Excellent location
Liked: The location was excellent and the value for money too.
Disliked: The room does not have an independent thermostat and it was VERY hot. We needed to leave the window open to be able to sleep and because of that the noise from the street was annoying.

Witnessing the eclipse from Montreal
Liked: The hotel was just outside the Latin quarter/little Portugal so there were lots of eateries nearby. The room itself was big, great shower, solid wifi and a comfortable bed. There was no air con, just a thermostat for the radiator and openable windows. TBH, I only used the blanket for sleeping rather than the main bedding. The room also came with a coffee machine which I only used on the last day
Disliked: There were a few unsavoury types late at night in the neighbourhood so would offer caution to more vulnerable travellers. Also the soft drinks from the vending machine were flat; think theyd expired.
