The Spotlight on Hotel San Carlos

Historic Charm Meets Modern Comfort in Downtown Phoenix

Hotel San Carlos - Adults Only blends vintage Hollywood glamour with modern convenience right in the heart of downtown Phoenix. With its storied past and classic architecture, this hotel offers a boutique experience just steps from the city’s most iconic music venues, nightlife, and cultural hot spots.

Why Concert-goers love it

You're just a short walk or ride away from downtown Phoenix's top concert venues, making it easy to catch your favorite act and be back in your room in no time. The hotel’s express check-in/check-out is perfect for those arriving late or leaving early, and the adult-only atmosphere creates a quieter, more relaxing vibe post-show. Reliable Wi-Fi, 24/7 snack machines, and taxi and car hire options help you stay connected and mobile no matter how late the night goes.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish, central base
  • Solo travelers seeing a bucket-list artist
  • Couples turning a concert night into a weekend getaway
  • Fans wanting a more peaceful, adults-only recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value and location

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no formal restaurant on-site, Hotel San Carlos has vending machines available 24/7 for late-night snacks and drinks. Plenty of nearby downtown dining options are within walking distance, and some rooms even feature coffee or tea makers for a quick morning fix after a late night. For those who love a casual drink, the hotel bar offers a cozy spot to unwind.

Nightlife Options

Downtown Phoenix is packed with live music joints, rooftop lounges, and craft cocktail bars, all just minutes away. Whether you’re looking for a lively after-party or a chill nightcap, the neighborhood has something for every vibe. The hotel’s own bar is a great starting point before heading out.

What People Say

Guests love the location, noting that it’s walkable to many concert venues, restaurants, and attractions. The hotel’s historic charm and quiet, adult-only setting are also frequently praised. Many reviewers highlight the friendly staff and convenient amenities like luggage storage, concierge service, and a unique vintage feel.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel’s age means some rooms can feel a bit dated, and while the vintage vibe is part of the charm, it may not appeal to travelers looking for ultra-modern luxury. There’s no on-site restaurant or pool, but the surrounding area more than makes up for it with plenty of options.

The Bottom Line

Hotel San Carlos - Adults Only is a character-filled, centrally located stay that offers concert-goers comfort, convenience, and a touch of old-school glam in downtown Phoenix.

Liked: The location was by far the best thing about the hotel.
Disliked: Very thin walls making it loud at night, water temperature in the showers was very inconsistent and the hotel is central air so you cannot control your room's temperature. No parking included

Disliked: The internet was close to non existent. The water regulator in the shower did a poor jog. It would switch back and forth from chilly to scalding.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Robert Thu, 29 February 2024

Liked: The location.
Disliked: Worst hotels I have ever stayed at. I reserved the room for 4 nights and left after the first. The room was tiny. The bathroom was 3' x 6' if that. The light switch was outside behind the door; almost impossible to find. Only 1 of the 3 sink lights worked

Verified Hotel Guest Tue, 12 April 2022

Liked: Location was within walking distance to convention center and a couple of places for dinner.
Disliked: No water in pool, paint peeling off in bathroom, windows very dirty, was supposed to be king with view of downtown but got two full-size with a limited view, did not receive much instruction from staff regarding a gym on the premises or anything else.
