Hotel Richmond on Rundle Mall

Friendly staff but should have...

Liked: Excellent location.
Disliked: It's being renovated. Fair enough. Hey that's no excuse for not keeping hotel clean eg carpets etc.

2nd visit and both times...

Liked: Perfect location, good size rooms

Poor

Disliked: Room extremely dusty and bathroom bin not cleaned in between guest . Management did indicate they were updating their procedures in response to my feedback but offered no refund or compensation.

Disappointing stay

Liked: Location was good, but better places are available close by. Staff were good and the room itself was clean.
Disliked: Very poor lock on main entrance, requiring entering a key code outside the main reception hours. This lock was difficult to use and often malfunctioned. I seen several older residents struggle with it also. Badly soiled carpet and unpleasant odour in the corridor. Old fashioned room key. Every hotel I've seen in the past 15 years used a card key, I consider it quite poor that they don't use them here. Basement and restaurant hours are sporadic. The opening and closing times are not well listed.

New changes for the worst.

Liked: I actually stay here regularly and usually love this place its such a great location and i usually have no issues with it
Disliked: There was a used dirty towel left in the room. It's written that we get 25% off food and beverages due to the renovations at the moment but when I went to the restaurant with family for dinner they added on the 10% surcharge being a weekend and didnt calculate the 25% off properly and I was overcharged. Also my 12 year old and I ordered the scotch fillet and the woman didn't think to tell us there scotch was covered in a chilli infused topping, on the menu it sounded like a side that came with the fries. Ripped off. And I had to call the after hours number to be able to be given the door entry pin as it was never sent to me. Given that the place is open til midnight when they have functions there needs to be peep holes you can see through if anyone knocks on the doors and I was given 1 key for 2 people so when we went out separately I had to leave the room unlocked. Safety wise it has declined a lot since they removed the key card system. Also the check out use to be 11am one email says 11am still and there is another saying 10am

Very good

Liked: The location in Rundle Mall was very good. Walk every where and close to transport options. The room was clean, had a kettle and good choice of teas.
Disliked: The carpet in our room had paint on it. The lift could be cleaner.
