A comfortable stay, though we'd...
Liked: The hotel is a refurbished old school house and deconsecrated church, and is tastefully done. Our room was simple but well-furnished, the bed was comfortable and the shower excellent. Staff were friendly in the main and responsive to the problems we had. When we told our waiter at dinner that we were celebrating our anniversary he offered us champagne on the house, which was lovely.
Disliked: The washbasin in the room was blocked when we arrived, but we told reception and maintenance fixed it quickly. Then as night fell we realised a lamp wasn't working, so again we told reception. The lamp was removed and never reappeared. When I tried contacting reception on the old dial-up phone in the room, it didn't work.We had booked dinner for 7.30pm in the atrium, and were shown which table was ours. Later, we headed to the bar for cocktails and at 7.30 went to sit at our table. We were ignored for around 10/15 minutes and had to catch a waiter's attention for a menu. We helped ourselves to water from the service table. The food was ok, nothing special, and the same was true of breakfast the next morning.Leaving the hotel, we were shown no breakdown of the extras we had incurred (dinner, breakfast etc) but were promised we'd receive a receipt by email. That never arrived. So although a charge appeared on my card I've no idea if it was correct. There was a wedding reception at the hotel during our stay. It didn't disturb us but it meant we couldn't access some areas (the deconsecrated church, for example, which we'd hoped to see).

Wonderful stay - the place...
Liked: Great location, with the cutest decor. Loved everything about this hotel and would recommend to anyone staying in New Orleans. Beautiful, comfortable, unique, with great attention to detail. Also had a couple of meals at the Elysian bar, which was again super stylish and inviting.
Disliked: Just wish the robes were more affordable - would have bought some!

Like staying at a spa...
Liked: we liked the overall ambience- there was a feeling of calm. it was a stones throw to everything. walking to Canal Street took a little longer but w e we’re just interested in the older part of New Orleans.
Disliked: We thought there should have been tea and a kettle available for non-American visitors. We don’t drink coffee but essentially that is a first world problem!

I'd give it 3.5 stars...
Liked: Front desk people and porter were very nice. The room needed some maintenance and it was handled quickly. The decor was charming and bed was comfortable. When we had an issue, a credit was given for dinner next door (more on that below).
Disliked: The place has NO sound insulation. We heard the upstairs guests presumably bowling all night and people getting ice down the hall from us at all hours. A housekeeper walked in without even knocking and said she thought we had already left (we were staying for two more nights). Dinner was abysmal. The service was definitely the worst I've experienced in New Orleans. We sat in an uncomfortable little stool (not a proper "booth") for literally 2.5 hours, and the food was meh.

We had a great time...
Liked: Beautiful place . Very clean and comfortable .
Disliked: Apart from the tiny takeaway coffee place downstairs there isn't any breakfast available and you can't really sit around downstairs relaxing or whatever without ordering food as it's a restaurant

Liked: The Peter and Paul is off the beaten path but that is the great thing about it, besides the beautiful renovations of the buildings. It is quiet, has a fabulous restaurant and bar on site and others within walking distance. The French Quarter is a 15 minute stroll or Ubers are there in under 5 minutes. This is definitely a hotel to stay at when you visit New Orleans!

Warm, inviting, and attention to...
Liked: Beautiful, attentive, and unique - never have seen the level of detail down to the ice bucket and room key to stay within the aesthetic. Truly an experience worth having.
Disliked: A ceiling fan (can be cute)
