Freaky abandoned place

Liked: There was hot water. The towels didn't smell like bleach or fabric softener.
Disliked: This place was freaky! There was hardly anyone there. The floors creaked. The internet didn't work. The restaurant wasn't open. It's an empty tomb. The person who checked me in was nice, but the person in the coffee shop where you go to redeem your coffee and pastry coupon was rude. Someone walked up and down the halls in the early morning and stood outside my door for a bit. The town is deserted. I will NEVER stay there again!

Hotel Niles is the best...

Liked: We have been to Hotel Niles a few times and have had a great experience. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The hotel is old but charming-- it captures the history of the hotel and town which is interesting. In the forgotten part of California, this boutique hotel is the best place to stay. It even has a Starbucks but in a quaint setting. We ate at Niles Roadhouse which served excellent food (steak sourced locally). Our favorite was the Saloon, a bar that has karaoke on Saturday nights, filled with friendly locals who are open and fun. (They have a polar bear hanging on the wall!)
Disliked: The hotel is old and has some minor issues with infrastructure such as the electrical. They need more wall outlets for charging electronics.

Very good

Liked: Convenient location in an historic town that time has passed by. Old hotel but very serviceable. Worth a visit.
Disliked: For a property of this age and location, no complaints.
