Long lines at check-in - only two people checking in a line back to the front door. You would think that a hotel by a convention center would be used to large numbers of people checking in at one time! We went to the bar/restaurant. Actually sat at the bar. It took the bartender at least 10 minutes to wait on us. Would not change the channel on the TV to show an Elite Eight basketball game. Then, when we finally got to our room, we were given double beds, although I requested a king when I reserved the room (back in November)! When I called the front desk, the gentlemen told me that I had requested two double beds when I reserved the room. I told him I had requested a king bed and he argued with me. I told him I had a copy of my confirmation email that indicated a king bed and that I would bring it to him and show him. Then he finally backed down and gave us a king bed room. Service was poor; definitely overpriced for the service they provide! Probably won't go back.
Liked: Convenient for a concert.
Disliked: Not worth the price!

The overall experience and appearance of Hotel Murano was one of the best I have ever experienced. Having been born and raised in Tacoma and coming back to enjoy a concert at this location was very much a vacation. I will NEVER stay anywhere else for a concert at the Tacoma Dome.
Liked: Beautifully remodeled hotel with tastefully appointed guest rooms.

Disliked: We upgraded in order to check in before 3. Then the room wasn?t available . Our original room was then taken by someone?s else - so we paid more and had to wait in line twice and didn?t get our room until 3:30. Front desk was totally understaffed. Lobby bar wasn?t open to get refreshments nor was the gift shop.

Liked: Our room smelled like smoke, all the surfaces were dusty, the room didn?t feel clean. Our view was beautiful, and the staff was friendly. This hotel seems to be trying for a high end feel and is not hitting the mark.

It was a relaxing stay,...
Liked: Conveniently located by Tacoma Art Museum and Museum of Glass. The lobby and public spaces (bar, restaurant) are nice to hang out in. Art everywhere! Food (poutine, eggs benedict) was delicious. Wine selection (get the Oregon Pinot Noir by the glass at the bar) outstanding. Food and quality wine were attractively priced.
Disliked: Not much. I didn't like the shower head. I'd replace that with something that moves. When I arrived valet parking was backed up for a military ball and large birthday celebration - but one of the valets ran across the street to assist me and directed me to the self parking, which was fine. So although that started out as a negative, he turned it into a positive. He saw me a few minutes later entering the hotel after parking, and he offered to carry my bag for me. Nice.
