Hotel Monte-Cristo

Inexpensive very basic hotel.

Liked: Location is good, close to center and old harbour..The staff did their job, but no.more. It was clean.
Disliked: No lift, very narrow staircase. No wifi except close to reception. I didn't expect much better though.

Good for 1 or 2...

Liked: Location close to centre, although the street it is on is not very nice. Clean room. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Cheaper than other places in Marseille
Disliked: Not a proper door separating bedroom and toilet. shower head would not stay up. Not a fitted aircon unit, had to keep window open to put air con tube outside to blow out the hot air, with window open made room very noisy even throughout the night- people shouting, sirens and motor bikes etc.

For a short stay optimal

Liked: The location was good. Room was clean. Some facilities were good.
Disliked: Noise levels were high. Aircon was portable unit which you had to have the window open to use to hang heated air ducts out the window. So heat and very busy road noise would come in! Solution was to run during the day and evening and put up with the noise. Turn off aircon and open window to sleep when it was quieter outside. Make sure you have ear plugs with you. Space is very small. Shower also tiny. Shower head holder was broken so hand held only. It was cheap but conditions far too challenging and uncomfortable.🥴

Clean and great in the...

Liked: Excellent location, close to the Vieux Port. We liked it pretty much because of the very clean room. The receptionist was helpful, they were avaliable via booking chat quickly.
Disliked: Due to the AC tube we cannot close the window, and unfortunately, I did not have proper earplugs with me, so the noise from the street was quite disturbing. But I really can’t complain it was a good place to stay.
