Liked: Very helpful staff on reception. Great location. Lovely atmosphere downstairs as you enter with relaxing classical music playing quietly and a nice area to sit and have a free coffee if you wanted. We had a small room but it was perfectly adequate for 2 nights. Very quiet considering the old town location.
Disliked: Nothing really. There is no lift but that didn't bother us.

Disliked: At check out, I was told my balance is 35 euro, which includes breakfast and city tax for 2 persons. I gave the owner 50 euro. He did not give me the change. Later I found out the city tax is 3 euro per guest. The right charge should be 30 euro. So I was overcharged by 20 euro.

Liked: Wonderful hotel in the old city of Antwerp. Great location yet still in a quiet area. Close to the cathedral, local bars and restaurants and transport links..The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Great communication from all the staff. Would highly recommend Hotel Matelote and look forward to returning soon
