A nice hotel of high...

Liked: We chose the Hotel Lombardy based on three factors: its central Washington DC location (close to National Mall), its ease of access from Dulles airport (using direct Metro Silver Line from Dulles to West Farragut station) and its price.We found the Lombardy to be pleasant hotel to stay in - we were allocated a nice comfortable room overlooking the Monroe Park.Our booking did not have a meal option, so we choose to eat in the local area (and the so-called West Market, which comprises many small eating establishments (mainly fast-food, but with adequate communal seating). There are also a number of ethnic restaurants nearby. The hotel has a dining room for both breakfast and evening use for those that wish to eat in a more formal setting.The location was excellent - a short distance (1.5km) north of the National Mall with all its important historical and cultural attractions - the National Mall is best visited on foot, though the easterly attractions can also be easily accessed from the Lombardy Hotel by using the Metro Silver Line. Note that visits to the White House require at least three weeks prior notification to the Secret Service.The reception staff and concierge were all very helpful, providing useful information and advice.We were pleased with our choice of the Lombardy for our Washington DC 4-night stay.
Disliked: No criticisms, but a cautionary note:- if planning to use the Metro Silver Line (which normally starts running each morning from 5am) to return to Dulles airport for an early morning flight, be aware that the Metro doesn't start running until 7am on a Sunday (or a national holiday)!!! - taxis from central Washington to Dulles airport are not cheap!!!

Superb

Liked: Very spacious and large room (2 double bed option). The olden historic look, added to the vibe of the city. Though in busy area, it still remained a quiet hotel.
Disliked: Though it was very close to the monuments and Whitehwhitehouse, it was a 15 minute walk away. Just to consider if you have mobility issues.
