Fortunately the great staff and...

Liked: The staff were good, the breakfast was good, the location was good, however, the room really was poor. Renovation work was in progress so hopefully it’ll improve for future guests. The room was long overdue for a major overhaul. The stairs from the ground floor were extremely steep so anyone with mobility issues would struggle. There was also very little sound insulation between the room we stayed in and the room above which was quite a disturbance.
Disliked: The room was poor. Long overdue for renovation. The bathroom was better but had low water pressure so not a great shower.

Pleasant stay in a great...

Liked: The property is in an excellent location. As it's in the old town there is no parking at the property and it is in a network of narrow streets. However, there is an underground public car park close by with reasonable fees. It is also not too far from the railway station if arriving by train. The property is historic and that is reflected in the fabric of the building in that it looks old. This is not a problem from the point of view of comfort and cleanliness though. I had to check in at a hostel close by as they were renovating the reception area at this property at the time.
Disliked: Due to it being an historic property there is no lift and the staircase is very (very step) with narrow steps. This made carrying a case up and down quite hazardous so bear this in mind if, like me, your mobility is not what it used to be.

Disappointing

Liked: The shower was good. The bed was big and comfy.
Disliked: Hotel was undergoing massive renovations - you need to enter the hotel room from the rear of the building using a disgusting alley. The coffee and tea facilities are located in a separate building in a hostel.
