Relaxing classic traditional French hotel...

Liked: We were looking for a traditional French hotel, serving good, freshly cooked, regional cuisine at dinner and a traditional breakfast with proper real French bread, not an international style one with far too much choice. We were not disappointed. The Hotel Sauvage was everything we hoped: run by a friendly family with personal service at meals and local advice when we needed it. We ate in the hotel every night and there always something fresh and different each night, with good value local Macon wines by the bottle, glass or pichet. If you like modern hotels with coffee machines and a vegan menu, this is not for you. We booked a larger than double room as we like enough space, and this was a good choice. There is ample free parking outside. We would come again.

Poor - 1.5 out of 5

I won't stop here again.

Disliked: Reception was friendly and informative. The food was downright bad. The snails as a starter did not taste bad but came from the packaging of the wholesaler and the preparation did not include any experience of the chef. The pasta as a main course was downright bad. How bad can you prepare pasta? I came here because of a stopover but will drive on next time.
