Liked: The location in the heart of Lyon is wonderful. Staff is very welcoming. We had a room facing Place Bellecour and it was spacious and had a beautiful view.

Liked: Exceptional staff. Public areas are compact but pleasing.
Disliked: My family used 3 rooms overall. The aircon did not work in one of them - AS KNOWN to the hotel. After complaint, they provided a different room - notionally superior, but with a view of a brick wall - but it is egregious for a 5* hotel to try to "get away" with this kind of thing.All 3 rooms were comically small and with (at best) motel-standard bathrooms. They were also very, very tired: possibly 1980s/ 1990s. Very much a "box-ticking" exercise to achieve a 5* rating, sadly.

French elegance with a cozy...

Liked: We loved the elegantly cozy feel of the Royal. The location is excellent, the rooms beautifully appointed, completely quiet and the beds very comfortable. The staff went out of their way to be helpful with great advice on restaurants and nearby sites to visit. It was the perfect place for our first visit to Lyon!
