Why Concert-goers love it

Location, location, location. With the Edinburgh Playhouse practically around the corner and other major venues within walking distance, you can skip the taxi queues and stroll back after the encore. Rooms are well-soundproofed, so once you're in for the night, the city’s buzz stays outside. The 12:00 pm checkout gives you time to sleep in, and the helpful staff are happy to assist with transport info or late-night snack recommendations.

The hotel’s Turquoise Thistle restaurant serves up a solid breakfast spread—including cooked-to-order dishes made with local produce—ideal after a late night. While 24/7 room service isn’t available, the on-site bar offers a curated selection of Scotch whiskies, craft beers, and soft drinks. Plenty of restaurants and pubs are within easy walking distance if you're heading out before or after a show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you're in one of the UK’s most vibrant cultural cities. Bars, clubs, and lounges are all steps away, and the hotel bar is a chill spot to unwind with a dram or two. Whether you're pre-gaming before a show or capping off the night, you won’t be short on options.

The rooms are often described as stylish and comfortable, with special shout-outs to the rainfall showers and plush beds. Travelers also appreciate the friendly staff and thoughtful touches like Aveda toiletries and in-room media hubs.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention the rooms can be on the smaller side—cozy for couples, but a bit tight for those with lots of luggage. Parking isn’t on-site, so if you’re driving, be sure to plan ahead. Otherwise, it’s smooth sailing.

Very enjoyable and comfortable stay.

Liked: Spent four nights at the hotel, had a very pleasant stay! The room was impressive, even with some signs of wear and tear here and there. It was very clean, spacious and had a super-comfortable bed - that was firm enough, and not soft. Very nice to have a bathroom with both bath-tub and a separate shower - truly great! As I was unfortunately a bit struck by a cold and felt a little under the weather on my trip, the comfortable room was very nice. The hotel has a very unique boutique charm, with friendly and welcoming staff. The breakfast was very tasty and delicious - and a lot of choices for hot dishes. Felt like being at a restaurant every morning. The location was central and great for walking to sights - and for reaching buses and trains nearby. Also great coffee-shop (Triple-Tri) just outside on the street - as well as a Tesco grocery-shop and a mall around the block for necessities.
Disliked: Very easy to hear everything that happened in the hallway, people coming and going - as if the door was not closed. Apart from that and a missing toilet brush, everything was fine!

Brilliant hotel, great staff and...

Liked: Very nice modern hotel with lots of quirky decor. Was put in a room on a nice quiet corridor. Great location- round the corner from the train station and not far from the city centre. The staff were excellent- very pleasant and helpful and accommodating to any needs/queries. Was able to get checked in early so had more time to explore! The complimentary drinks and snacks in the fridge were a very nice touch and the little bits for my dog were also nice!
Disliked: There was a loud clicking noise that went off intermittently- not sure if it was the fridge or the thermostat- but especially during the night it kept waking me up as it was that loud. There was a smashed beer bottle down the steps outside the hotel and all over the pavement- had to move quite a bit so my dog didn’t stand on it but there was too much- unsure if from the hotel but if it was, possibly no glass outside to prevent it happening again!
