Good
Liked: Location, overlooking the botanical gardens (superb to visit), impressive reception lobby. Breakfast is good but the least good on our 6 hotel tour so far.
Disliked: Sardines-tin shower! Hairdryer was u/s and the a/c unit was pitiful and not explained. Safe available but already locked needing reception assistance.

Nice hotel in old section...
Liked: The location is great (next to botanical gardens). The lobby is very fancy and attractive. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is calm and peaceful. The rooms are o.k. - nothing too amazing. The staff are nice. The breakfast, served in the sun room area, is very pleasant - a mix of hot and cold items in a fairly extensive buffet. They're happy to make you a cappuccino if you ask.
Disliked: American visitors might be surprised by the lack of A/C in the rooms. Also, the TV service is pretty limited. Neither of those things really bother me, but if that's important to you, be sure to take that into account.

Will visit again
Liked: Perfect location - central yet quiet, with fantastic views towards the cathedral and botanical gardens. Watching a couple of birds swooping around cathedral towers at dawn was beautiful.Reception & breakfast room staff were great: polite, helpful and upbeat.Good quality bedding, towels and lovely smelling shower gel / hand wash from a range not harmful to environment or skin. Good shower and effective ventilation (we take long showers and it didn't get steamy).Very nice breakfast, with a varied selection including delicious pancakes & baked apples.Interesting architecture with a generous lobby / atrium space and galleries leading to rooms, nice quality doors which seemed real hardwood. An Easter treat left in our room on arrival was a kind gesture.
Disliked: The maintenance is sadly lacking - our bathroom vanity top was peeling off, due to long term water damage, the window in the room's small seating area was broken, with signage warning against use. Wi-Fi signal weak at best so no Internet / only terrestrial TV. Only the most basic tea & coffee provisions in the room (luckily the breakfast room had a wider selection). Decor is dated, but we knew about it in advance having stayed there before - a bit amusing and very much of its time.Nothing that a little TLC and interiors refresh wouldn't solve and then it would be a super nice hotel.
