Excellent value for the price...
Liked: Clean and simple room - spacious. Working AC and great space for my partner, myself, and my pet. The bathroom could have been slightly cleaner - but I felt safe in a Covid-19 world. The barista and the front desk staff were all very kind and accommodating.
We never got to use our complimentary drinks -- but we do intend to visit again this weekend and I cannot wait to imbibe!
Disliked: The area is very convenient for tourist locations (but we were only there for the night on a long road trip) -- but due to the location, there is a prevalent homeless population nearby which made me feel unsafe at night.

A different kind of hotel...
Liked: I didn't know what to expect from Hive. I knew my room would be small and basic, but I was willing to make that trade for a location close to the DC sights. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. I had a queen room which was small but plenty for one person. It was quiet, clean and stocked with exactly what a person would need for their stay. I requested ahead of time, and got, a micro-fridge in my room to keep some items cold. It was raining when I was there and the hotel had umbrellas you could sign out at no charge. The front door and elevator operated with your key card which added to a sense of security, which was good because there are homeless people camped just around the corner from the hotel. I reserved parking ahead of time on the Hive website and it was a great deal, just $16/day at an off premises garage. The garage is located at 2400 Virginia Av. NW. When you get to the building, be sure you enter the right garage. Don't use the downsloping ramp, - pass that ramp and go to the garage door on the left side. See photo. Also the hotel was about a 25 minute walk to the WA monument, or about a 10 minute walk to the Foggy Bottom Metro Station and a Whole Foods. I would definitely stay there again.
Disliked: The hallways were dark, narrow, and kind of claustrophobic. The elevator was very small and not everyone wanted to respect the Covid restrictions of one party per elevator trip. The neighborhood was surprisingly empty, maybe because of the weather and Covid. There were homeless people camped in the area, and panhandlers at the Metro station.
