The Spotlight on Hotel Havana

Historic Charm Steps from San Antonio's Music Scene

Modern concert nights meet old-world elegance at Hotel Havana, a boutique hotel nestled in downtown San Antonio. Originally built in 1914, this stylish stay blends vintage ambiance with Pan-Latin flair, offering a unique and intimate atmosphere just a short stroll from the San Antonio Riverwalk and the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. With cozy rooms featuring iPod docking stations, free WiFi, and charming minibars, it’s a retreat made for unwinding after an electric night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

If you're headed to a show at the Tobin Center, you couldn’t stay closer—it's literally next door! The hotel's quiet, laid-back vibe makes it a peaceful spot to crash after loud crowds and encore sets. Late check-out at 12:00 PM means no rush the morning after, and the walkable location makes post-show transportation a breeze. It’s a perfect balance of convenience and calm.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking to pre-game in a stylish space
- Solo travelers catching a dream concert
- Couples making a weekend getaway of it
- Fans who prefer a mellow, quiet recovery after the show
- Budget-conscious music lovers wanting unique vibes without chain-hotel blandness

Food and Drink Options

Ocho, the on-site restaurant, serves Pan-Latin cuisine all day and into the night, ideal for grabbing a bite after your show. The hotel also offers late-night snacks, and there’s a minibar in every room for those late cravings. Breakfast is available too—perfect for sleeping in after a long night of dancing.

Nightlife Options

You don’t have to go far to keep the night going. The Bar at Hotel Havana is a local fixture, known for its craft cocktails and unique chocolate sampler—a sweet way to end your evening. For more action, downtown’s clubs and lounges are just a few blocks away.

What People Say

Guests rave about the character and charm of this historic hotel, with many calling it “a hidden gem” and praising the romantic, moody ambiance. The proximity to music venues is a major plus, and reviewers love the food at Ocho, especially the cocktails and riverside views.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the vintage vibe means fewer modern amenities, like no elevators and smaller room sizes. But if you're into charm over high-tech, this might be part of the appeal!

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers seeking a stylish, walkable, and atmospheric stay in the heart of San Antonio, Hotel Havana hits all the right notes.

Review your room carefully upon...

Liked: Bedding and pillows were very nice and room got very cool.
Disliked: No chairs- no vanity- no storage- poor lighting in bathroom. Was very difficult to get glammed up for a wedding. We had to sit on the floor to put on our shoes because the beds were tall and we had nowhere to sit. Had we not been in a hurry when we arrived, I would have asked to change rooms. We could only lie down or stand in this room. Absurd for the money we paid.

Havana is a quaint gem...

Liked: Location is excellent! Walking distance to Alamo and Riverwalk.Parking very convenient and easy access to the lobby. The hotel has a vintage vibe and it’s historical.Friendly front desk staffs who share lots of valuable information about the city and best restaurants to eat, Adrian the front -desk girl very friendly and always smiling.
Disliked: Little disappointed that their speakeasy bar downstairs was closed on Sunday. They only open on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. And the restaurant Ocho was closed. Felt little let down as I was looking forward dining at Ocho. But found a great restaurant at Riverwalk that serves the best Margaritas and Spanish food. Must try Iron Cactus when in San Antonio.

The room and staff were...

Liked: The room was nice. However, they had to fix a light bulb in the bathroom so we were waiting until 4:30 for that to be completed. They did let us get checked in and sit in the room while they finished fixing the light.
Disliked: There are signs for room service and things you can order which is great! There is no phone in the room or hall way to call room service. No glasses available in the room.
