Hôtel Grimaldi

Lovely hotel in great location

Liked: Beautiful hotel in perfect location. Room was fabulous - very comfortable and quiet.
Disliked: There were no staff at the hotel when we arrived just after 7.30pm, and the hotel was in darkness. Although we tried to phone twice, nobody answered our calls. We had been sent a video showing the way to the room, which we followed. The next morning we were told off by the manager, who said we had gone to the wrong room, that the video was only to show the way round the whole hotel and we should have known that was the case and gone to another room. However, the place was dark, the security lights inadequate and the doors did not have numbers on them. If I had been the manager, I would have apologised to us guests for the lack of communication!

The best I could have...

Liked: The character was appealing. The history was compelling and relaxing. The area was full of interest. The weather improved to show off the attributes of the area. The staff were so friendly and helpful.
Disliked: All was good!

Exceptional

Well worth the sense of...

Liked: Great fresh bread and pastries made the breakfast excellent. Great location in the old centre with views across to the Alps. We parked in Planastel where you leave your car and it is parked automatically. Public transport is good, the small bus up and down to the new town is very useful. Our evening meal was excellent and the staff were very warm and attentive. Watching petanque in the village with a Pastis is always bliss. If the coastal strip is too manic for you, this is a great location to separate yourself from it.
Disliked: The only negative was the presence of some toilet smells presumably due to ancient sewage system.

Very much enjoyed the location...

Liked: A very nice place to stay with a good restaurant with very good service.

Liked: Loved the location, staff friendly, breakfast generous and fresh.
Disliked: The evening meal menu was a little limited and although traditional it could do with a few lighter or more modern dishes. we ate elsewhere for this reason.

Liked: Lovely room, great views, convenient location

A delightful one night stop...

Liked: We didn't have breakfast but the location was superb. The hotel is situated right at the top of the old part of Cagnes sur Mer with delightful cobbled streets and great restaurants.
Disliked: Nothing really
