Hotel Grand Canal

Disliked: I was happy to arrive at a hotel by the canal. Before our stay, I informed them we’d be bringing our dog, and they shared the cost with me. Upon arrival, however, the welcome was… tense. They handed us a list of rules outlining what our dog was not allowed to do—no barking, no sleeping on the bed, no this, no that. The overall tone was that our dog should exist as discreetly as possible in the room.Then came the caution deposit, along with a warning that any complaints or incidents would incur extra charges. On top of that, they added a second deposit, just in case we “destroyed” the room. I mean… is this a party hotel or what?Only after signing all these rules, conditions, and extra policies were we finally allowed to enter our room. It left us feeling incredibly uncomfortable. And the experience didn’t improve: the walls were paper-thin, so we could hear TVs, knocking, and—yes—snoring. Naturally, our dog barked at some point, which must’ve been distracting to others.The night was rough. Even with the fan they provided, the room was way too hot. And how did they propose to solve the noise issue? With earplugs placed on the nightstand. So the solution was entirely pushed onto the guests.Checkout was almost comedic. When the cleaning lady saw we were leaving, she shouted in Spanish, “Room with dog is checking out!” The manager yelled back to inspect it quickly. After the dramatic sendoff, we got our deposits back. Not exaggerated at all.

Liked: The location is ideal, the room was large with a double door leading to a small private outdoor area. Enough kitchen facilities to organise breakfast & light lunch.

Great stay in a lovely...

Liked: Great location and lovely room right on the canal. Easy to walk into the centre and to access the train station.
Disliked: Beds were a bit too soft for me…Memory foam but you do sink in a bit too far !

Liked: Great view from our room over the canal. Located a short walk from the main squares but still in a more quiet surrounding.
Disliked: The bed was a bit too soft for my taste
