Disappointing

Liked: The location is key, but being the oldest hotel of Guadalajara historically speaking, it needs some upgrades, not to be confused with updating, the historic charm of this property is what gives it its edge from other hotels around the historic center. But inside the rooms; beds need a massive overhaul starting with mattresses and the bathroom. One thing is historic charm and another is sleeping on what feels to be a historic mattress. The bathroom could be upgraded without loosing its historic charm with modern plumbing fixtures. You will need some investment on this and a great interior designer that can bring back the rooms to the 21st century without loosing its historic charm.
Disliked: The bed mattress and the bathroom, it was a built in tub (slippery and dangerous around a concrete box) water splashed on the side wall, draining around the tub and ending up on the floor that could make for a slippery situation, luckily the towel Matt provided soaked most of the water, making the towel worthless for when you get out and expect to step on a dry towel. The other issue I did not like at all was that we had to wear plastic security style wristbands (yellow with the hotel’s name) to distinguish from non guests, but these are not meant to be removed until you check out, this meant that though out our 4 day stay we were wearing this ridiculous wristbands everywhere. I can see when you are in a cruise you have these wristbands to unlock benefits throughout a cruise, but for a hotel that provides nothing more that guests distention, it makes it ridiculous to me.

Liked: Beautiful historic building. Great location. Cool antique elevator. Friendly staff.
Disliked: Room was a little thread bare. Loud music until 11pm and starting up again at 7am. A great place to stat if you hate peace and quiet.

Liked: The location is perfect. Right in the middle of the historical district. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. The hotel was only 15 minutes from my appointment by taxi.

Exceptional

Good location, but not the...

Liked: I liked that it was close to the downtown area of Guadalajara. Everything was walking distance.
Disliked: The girl working at front desk was rude. She didn’t care to give us service and was more worried about having conversations with her co-workers. Also the toilet didn’t flush properly.
