Great Location

Liked: We liked that location is about 2 blocks to the main hub of eating, shopping, attractions, and transit to other mountains. David and Florencia are very accommodating hosts who granted all requests and shared insightful information which enhanced our stay.
Disliked: We didn't like that the guests have to operate the hot tub so, we didn't use it. Not sure if this is a standard for boutique hotels though.

Discomfort due to basement room,...

Liked: During our recent visit to Hotel Durant in Aspen, we booked two rooms for our stay—room 111 and room 301, each offering unique experiences with their own set of challenges and merits.Room 111, located in the basement, struggled with a lack of natural light, resulting in a consistently dark ambiance throughout our stay. The proximity to the communal lounge and breakfast area meant noise disturbances were frequent, with sounds from late-returning guests and early-rising skiers disrupting our peace.Room 301 offered a more pleasant aesthetic with its charming decor and balcony access. However, its layout, featuring a French bed and an open bathroom, left much to be desired in terms of privacy, particularly at the sink area. When we inquired about the possibility of changing rooms or upgrading, even if it meant an additional cost, we were quickly informed that the hotel was fully booked, leaving us without alternatives.A positive aspect was the hotel's provision of a USB adapter, a small yet appreciated gesture. However, we were disappointed to discover that the après-ski amenities—advertised as complimentary wine, cheese, and cookies—were no longer offered, contrary to what was promised on the website and room literature. The staff's explanation for the discontinuation of these services, citing their lack of control over the decision, felt inadequate and misleading. For those interested in skiing, it's important to note that the hotel requires guests to store their ski boots in their cars or in their rooms, as there is no dedicated space for ski or snowboard equipment. One notable convenience is the hotel's 24-hour availability of tea, providing a warm respite at any time of day. However, coffee lovers should be aware that coffee is only available from 7:30 to 10:00 AM, a limitation that might affect morning routines.
Disliked: Despite its charming exterior and convenient location on the edge of town—within a reasonable walking distance to the center—the hotel's appeal is somewhat diminished by the aforementioned issues. The rooms, though not new, are modernized to a standard that offers both comfort and style. In summary, Hotel Durant in Aspen has potential, thanks to its location and the modernization of its rooms. However, our experience was overshadowed by the challenges related to room placement, noise, and the discrepancy between advertised and actual services. Additionally, the limited availability of coffee compared to the round-the-clock accessibility of tea might be a minor inconvenience for some. Future guests may wish to consider these factors when planning their stay

Great location, modern, hot tub...

Liked: Great location! 3 blocks from the gondola and all the restaurants. Nicely renovated and had everything you need. It was nice that they had breakfast in the morning too. Was great to have a hot tub and the staff was super nice and helpful.
Disliked: The rooms were rather small.

A Hidden Gem - Great...

Liked: Fantastic location right in the heart of town approximately 3 blocks walking distance to the main Ajax gondola (even closer to nearest chairlift) and everything in downtown Aspen, including the free town bus to the other 3 “Aspen” ski resorts 1.5 blocks away. It has the feel of a small boutique in with extremely friendly staff, tastefully updated “mountain modern” decor, and a nice free continental breakfast too. In retrospect I’m very surprised by some of the negative reviews and assume those guests expected a Ritz experience at a ski bum price or that more recent management and room updates are a reason we enjoyed a perfect stay. All said, this place is a hidden gem for those seeking a great location and value in an otherwise ultra expensive town. Looking forward to returning as our new go-to spot in town!!
Disliked: Everything was great!!
