The Spotlight on Hotel Du Vin Newcastle

Historic Charm with Modern Comfort in the Heart of Newcastle

Modern luxury meets industrial heritage at Hotel Du Vin Newcastle, a beautifully converted former shipping company building overlooking the River Tyne. Located just a short walk from the buzzing city centre and Manors Rail Station, this boutique hotel blends contemporary comfort with character-filled design. With elegant rooms featuring Egyptian cotton linen, deep baths, and plasma TVs, it’s the ideal base for a stylish city break—especially if you're here for a show.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music lovers appreciate the hotel’s central location, with many of Newcastle’s top live music venues within walking distance. After a late gig, returning is quick and easy—no need to worry about taxis or public transport. The hotel’s quiet riverside position offers a peaceful place to wind down, while the flexible check-in from 15:00 and check-out at 11:00 gives you time to ease into the day after a big night.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a chic yet sociable base
- Solo travelers chasing their dream concert experience
- Couples planning a romantic music-filled weekend
- Fans craving quiet luxury after the encore

Food and Drink Options

The on-site bistro restaurant offers refined dining ideal for pre- or post-show meals, and the hotel’s Laroche wine tasting experience is a hit with wine lovers. While 24/7 room service isn’t advertised, the central location means plenty of late-night eateries are within walking distance. Breakfast is available—you’ll appreciate it after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While there’s no live music in the hotel itself, you’re surrounded by Newcastle’s lively bar scene, with everything from cozy pubs to upbeat clubs just minutes away. And the hotel bar is a great spot to enjoy local craft drinks in a more relaxed setting.

What People Say

Guests rave about the hotel’s stylish rooms, friendly staff, and excellent location for exploring both the city and nearby venues. Many highlight the atmosphere and character of the building, along with the high-quality bedding and spacious bathrooms—perfect for recovering after a night on your feet.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests have noted that the hotel can be a bit of a walk from the main train station if you’re carrying heavy bags. A few also wished for more in-room dining options late at night. That said, the nearby food scene more than makes up for it.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Du Vin Newcastle is a stylish, comfortable, and centrally located gem—ideal for concert-goers who want to be close to the action but sleep in luxury.

Comfortable, friendly and close to...

Liked: The design of the building. The comfort of the rooms. The very friendly and helpful staff. Food was good.
Disliked: Car parking but I realise the location makes it difficult.

Hotel du Vin exceeded our...

Liked: Very accommodating staff, room was made ready early for us, staff asked if we were happy and gave opportunity to engage with them. Upgraded room for very reasonable amount. Plenty of comfort, room with bath, balcony, plenty of refreshments, fridge, etc. Location is beautiful, and fairly private. Very spacious room, felt relaxed and left wanting to stay longer.
Disliked: Breakfast was a little on the steep side regarding prices, and the hot English Breakfast was not offered with beans or hash browns. Parking was also on the steep side considering we were staying at the hotel. But considering our experience, we felt so welcomed, and were accommodated for that on the whole it was worth the experience.

Liked: Great staff at reception and at our very good breakfast. Comfortable room which was upgraded for free. Good location with everywhere walkable in 20 minutes. 5 minutes to the quay.
Disliked: Disturbed by our upstairs neighbour at 2am.

Potential to be great but...

Liked: Nice size room with a view of the riverside and bridges. Good spacious shower. Very comfortable bed.
Disliked: Arrived in the room and hit with a very feisty smell. I’m guessing this is from the open plan shower and bath. The extraction just doesn’t do the job. The room was boiling hot and took the AC hours to kick in and cool the room. The dust in the room was ridiculous. Literally thick dust along all the walls were the cleaners couldn’t be bothered to hoover. Behind the bed was the same. Mini bar overpriced compared to competitors in the area. For the top money you would expect it for free like some of the competitors. Also some questionable hairs in the bathroom area! I would not book it again.
