With elegant rooms featuring Egyptian cotton linen, deep baths, and plasma TVs, it’s the ideal base for a stylish city break—especially if you're here for a show.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music lovers appreciate the hotel’s central location, with many of Newcastle’s top live music venues within walking distance. After a late gig, returning is quick and easy—no need to worry about taxis or public transport. The hotel’s quiet riverside position offers a peaceful place to wind down, while the flexible check-in from 15:00 and check-out at 11:00 gives you time to ease into the day after a big night.

What People Say

Guests rave about the hotel’s stylish rooms, friendly staff, and excellent location for exploring both the city and nearby venues. Many highlight the atmosphere and character of the building, along with the high-quality bedding and spacious bathrooms—perfect for recovering after a night on your feet.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests have noted that the hotel can be a bit of a walk from the main train station if you’re carrying heavy bags. A few also wished for more in-room dining options late at night. That said, the nearby food scene more than makes up for it.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Du Vin Newcastle is a stylish, comfortable, and centrally located gem—ideal for concert-goers who want to be close to the action but sleep in luxury.

Disappointed

Liked: Bedding and location/court yard were lovely. It was located next to the river and easy to access local pubs and eateries.
Disliked: No air con in the building, stifling heat and couldn’t open the curtains due to the unprecedented heat. Was moved to another deluxe room but was disappointed that it was on the third floor, no lift and had to carry our bags up & down twice - currently awaiting a knee op so caused lots of pain. No upgrade or even a drink offered for the inconvenience. Won’t be returning.

A luxurious weekend in a...

Liked: Beautiful converted old building, formerly the Tyne Tees Shipping Company building, situated just off the river, not far from Newcastle quayside and only a 3-stop bus ride (or short taxi ride) from Grey St, in Newcastle town centre. The bedroom was lovely: spacious and well-equipped, with a large bathroom, and a fabulous deep roll top bath with lion’s claw feet beside the window. Everything in the room worked and the air-conditioner was quick, effective and quiet. There was a good iron, a mini fridge, and a plentiful supply of coffees including decafs for the nespresso machine - also Taylor’s of Harrogate coffee bags for the kettle, and lots of milk portions. There were plentiful supplies of L’Occitane en Provence toiletries and lotions in the bathroom, and it was very peaceful and quiet at night. The hotel has a very comfortable lounge and bar near reception, with a cosy fireplace and multiple seating areas on comfy chairs and sofas. A special occasion dinner at the bistro restaurant was really excellent, and the breakfasts also looked superb. Service in the restaurant was very good, with beautiful table linen too.
Disliked: Nothing. However, for any who can’t climb stairs, it should be noted that because this is an old building there are no lifts to the upstairs bedrooms on 1st and 2nd floors. Staff were helpful with luggage though
