Hotel du Vin Henley

Disappointed

Liked: The ensuite was fabulous and huge! The breakfast was superb as were the attentive breakfast staff. The evening meal was lovely and the staff very helpful with menu choice especially for allergy sufferers. Great location in Henley, quiet but really close to the river and town centre.
Disliked: The window in our room overlooking the inner courtyard was sealed shut, it was a very warm day and night and the aircon automatic ventilation system was not working, the room was stifling with no air. We reported this twice to the front desk and were only offered a very noisy fan. We were told an engineer was being sent to check the ventilation air system but the man who came with the old fan did not seem to know how anything worked and actually 'shrugged his shoulders'. We felt we were not believed, more dismissed. We had a very uncomfortable night which is a shame as this was our 35th wedding anniversary and we honeymooned in Henley so we're keen to return. We chose a hotel du vin because we have stayed at others and they have been excellent. I would expect better from a 4 star hotel and the price, sorry we would not stay again. We are not used to complaining but we hope the staff get some training in customer service. At checking out, we were offered an upgrade, if we returned, to us that was not the point we should have had a better service whilst staying at the hotel.

Liked: We loved the property and staff. Lots of stairs to carry suitcases… and they do not have staff assisting. They clean the room every day
Disliked: The stairs and lack of assistance to takeLuggage upstairs

Disliked: Bed with a wooden frame at the base is unpleasant - banged my feet several times
