Liked: Particularly the lovely helpful receptionist from Germany....very nice young lady.Also staff in restaurant lovely.

As expected but scope for...

Liked: Staff and location. It's close to the river and the center of town. It's built in an old brewery so the layout is a bit quirky. It serves Marmite. Food was a reasonable price. The hotel has a happy hour on champagne cocktails.
Disliked: A pet hate, butter served on ice so you can't spread it. However I was told that this is dictated by central office and the local hotel ha no ability to change it. Also the Marmite pot was sticky and when I asked for it to be wiped I got a brand new pot. Little things but irritating. I asked for kippers which arrived warm, not hot. So in summary breakfast could have been better. I also had a problem communicating with the manager when I raised the above points which was mitigated by her assistant on the front desk.

Faded

Liked: Two recent stays in HdV Henley. Location is still great, breakfast buffet & hot choices are exemplary.
Disliked: Sad to say it seems cost cuts have changed HdV Henley for the worse since I last visited. Lots of niggles - the indifference of the bar staff (who were absent for 10minutes), the confused check-in, the tired rooms (carpets & fittings), 30 min wait for my eggs, coffee machine that was broken for 2 full days. Recent stay in Exeter was much more the HdV and worth the expense.

Disliked: Access to room was awkward, no lift so lugging luggage up flights of stars through two public spaces was not ideal. Upstairs dark hallway’s poorly lit and everything painted dark gray and black, and the rooms had minimal electrical outlets
