Overall a very nice place...

Liked: The hotel was attractive & I found my room to be spacious but cosy & welcoming The staff were delightfully pleasant & courteous. The bathroom in my room was excellent. Very clean & comfortable bed. Good tea & coffee making facilities, iron & hairdryer.
Disliked: Only three things & fairly trivial. The carpet in my room was frayed - I don't expect a tired looking room at this price. The TV could not for some reason, display any HD channels. I'm not worried about HD as such, but it meant several important news channels I rely on - including BBC News were unavailable. The bar was poorly stacked with only bottled beer & very little choice, I think just two lagers & one beer. I don't expect a row of beer taps but a couple of draft beers would have been nice. At 100 per night for room only, this is by no means a budget hotel. Facilities like those I've mentioned need to be improved.

Better hotels elsewhere

Disliked: The junior suite was quite run down. The room is extremely dark and far too warm. The windows do not open. None of the furniture matched, the TV stand sat at an angle. Finding the suite was like playing a game of hiding in a maze. Everything is dark. The bed was dreadful. We sank into each end and had a weird camelback hump in the middle. Very sore backs in the morning. We could clearly hear the staff's conversation in the corridor. The bed is oddly pushed away from the wall, meaning you have to get out of bed to turn the bedside light off. This was in the Courvoisier Junior Suite. The bathroom was lovely.Don't stay here!

Superb

Liked: Lovely boutique style hotel in the city with a lot of character, loved the romantic courtyard and even though things were not in full swing due to Covid, it was still a lovely stay. It was a work trip but felt lovely to be there - would go back to experience the bar and restaurant properly. The corridors were very cool and loved the wine cellar beside reception - beautiful decor.
Disliked: We got a room at the front and it is on quite a busy road so was pretty noisy. There are double windows to drown out the noise but would ask for room on other side next time. The walls are a little thin too, could hear the other guest's phones go off but it wasn't a middle of the country stay so to be expected really. I would suggest going somewhere quieter if you wanted to catch up on sleep, otherwise, this is the perfect and romantic city break hideaway.
