More than mediocre
Liked: Vintage outlook
Disliked: Sure! Here's your review rewritten with correct grammar, clarity, and a touch of satirical flair:---I know I was alone and it was just for one day, but that doesn’t mean the room had to feel like a glorified broom closet. There was no closet, by the way—so perhaps the room was just setting the tone.Amenities? What amenities? No water bottle, no coffee, no slippers—unless you count the confusion upon arrival as part of the "experience." You don’t actually go to the hotel you booked; no, you go to a different hotel where the reservation is handled. Like a secret mission, but less exciting. Now, the room itself? It's located right in front of the floor entrance. Yes, the very entrance—meaning every person coming and going gets to slam the door like it's part of a rhythm section. And if you’re not alone? Good luck! Only one person can enter at a time, since the password-controlled door opens directly into the hallway. The other person? They'll just have to wait... awkwardly. The air conditioning? Forget temperature settings—it only offers vague emotional choices like “Too Cold” and “Too Warm.” Because why have numbers when you can have feelings? As for the decor: a clash of eras. Vintage furniture meets modern gadgets like it’s trying out for a time-travel sitcom. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t work.Honestly, not ideal for a solo traveler—unless you enjoy brushing your knees against every wall. The toilet and shower are so tiny, you might find yourself reconsidering hydration just to avoid using them.Breakfast? Functional at best. One fruit. Limited bread. Salami options so thin and few you might think they were sliced by regret. And as a final twist of design mystery, there’s another room right in front of the breakfast room—because who doesn't want someone watching them butter toast?

Small but good location
Liked: The location and the breakfast
Disliked: The size of the room (too small), no closet to hang your clothes, the lighting could use some improvement (inside the shower you are basically in the dark) and the shower was really small.

Convenient location
Liked: The hotel was easy to find and very convenient for Cologne station. The room was comfortable. As the Hotel Domstern is a satellite building for the Hotel Domspitzen, there are limited facilities on site and reception and breakfast is available at the Domspitzen. The breakfast was excellent although you have to book the timing for breakfast in advance.
Disliked: There was no tea or coffee available in the room or at the premises at all, which is disappointing, given that the main hotel is separate and a few minutes' walk away.

Great location and value for...
Liked: This property is located very close to the main train station and the cathedral, I was able to walk around, get to see stuff and do the shopping I had to without paying for transport. This is a great location for anyone that wants quick and easy access to everything. I really liked it. The room was beautiful, spacious and clean.
Disliked: The property does not have an elevator and that made it a bit challenging for me and my heavy bags as my room was on the fourth floor, but I would still go back to this place.

Perfect base for exploring the...
Liked: We chose this hotel because it’s an easy walk from the train station, which also makes it conveniently close to the main sights like the Cathedral and old town. We joined a Guru walking tour, which was an informative and enjoyable way to explore the area, and we loved sitting by the Rhine for lunch and evening drinks. The hotel itself is lovely – clean, comfortable, and with very friendly staff. We especially appreciated the outdoor seating area where we could relax. The buffet breakfast was excellent and a real bonus that it was included in our room rate. The sweets and desserts are a quirky offering.
