Hotel d'Espagne

Excellent.

Liked: The hotel was in a quiet location, well placed for access to metro and site seeing. Decent size bedrooms with good quality bed linen and towels, good breakfast with choice of hot and cold options. Above all the staff were excellent, particularly Clemant.
Disliked: No dislikes, all good.

Good rooms, but hotel struggled...

Liked: Great location - walkable distance to both Montmarte to the north and Ile de la Cite to the south, with Metro options also possible. Lots of places to eat in the area. The night receptionist (Clement) was friendly and gave useful tips for visiting Paris and shopping. The day receptionist (Nisha) was empathetic when I had a problem with the breakfast (see below). The room was an adequate size and kept clean by housekeeping. A kettle was provided in the room, but next to the reception desk on the ground floor there is a good coffee machine and free pastries for guests 24 hours a day.
Disliked: I purchased full buffet breakfast for 3 days upon arrival (€18 per day) but on two of the three days the buffet was not properly replenished even when arriving over an hour before end of the breakfast time. Scrambled eggs had totally run out and were simply not replaced; on the second occasion, besides the eggs, the cheese and pancakes and most of the pastries had also run out. I brought this to the attention of the staff immediately but no solution was offered. When I tried to complain to the manager, she was not present at the hotel (I was told she was working from home that day?!), the receptionist said the manager was not contactable by phone and despite leaving my number I was not contacted. However, after the trip, I sent a complaint email regarding the breakfast situation and they have since agreed to give me a partial reimbursement which I consider a fair resolution. It's been a lot of hassle trying to sort this out, though, which spoiled my last day in Paris and therefore I reduced my rating.

Liked: The staff were really friendly and helpful. They even upgraded us to a bigger room which was really good.It’s in a central location and was just right for our stay. Good value for money and really pleased with it.

Great value for money

Liked: Great location of the hotel, lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Small room with comfortable bed and extra pillow. Quiet room. Good breakfast with fresh juices.
Disliked: The room is small with a small bathroom. Very narrow shower. Little space for clothes and suitcases.

Nice hotel

Liked: The hotel was in a convenient location for shops, café, restaurants, public transport etc.The staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The room was not soundproof. It was located near the lift shaft, so I could hear it going up and down.Also, I could hear the flushing of the toilet in the room above.The shower handle was not appropriate due to a lack of space in the cubicle. Every time I moved, my body would touch the handle and turn it off.This should be changed to a dial/knob to maximise the space.

Liked: Very lovely and helpful personnel, the location is phantastisch since it is very quiet but super central at the same time. I would recommend this place to my friends.
