BAD experience
Liked: Location / friendly at reception
Disliked: Very dated hotel. Too expensive for what you get. Breakfast was poor (no fresh juice or fruit or bread) and breakfast-room horrible (no light or sight, bad smell), there were children serving??? The staff was yelled at by the 'manager', very unpleasened. The sheets were not fresh or ironed, very noisy (street) and warm in room.

Economic stay with good breakfasts...
Liked: Loved the proximity to the tidal pool at the sea & the promenade. The breakfasts were very good with lots of choice. The swimming pool was a good size with good changing rooms and showers nearby. The dining room furniture had been refurbished and was very comfortable.
Disliked: We had 2 rooms. A king size room and a family room with 3 beds. The king size bed was a small double bed which was hard as one of us was sleeping with our teenage grandson. The first floor bedroom was hot but if the window was open the traffic noise was loud. There was a fan in the room. There were a lot of elderly guests who sat in the ‘common areas’ and there was nowhere for us to sit after dinner to play cards etc. The atmosphere in the swimming pool was like a v hot sauna so we couldn’t easily spectate the grandchildren.

This is a good value,...
Liked: Room better than previous year - quieter, upstairs location, carpeted, more comfortable bed, slightly cooler. Staff friendly and efficient. Food is very good - both for breakfast and buffet dinner which is excellent value. Useful location - near beach, on bus route and a pleasant walk into town via the park.
Disliked: Room very hot at night - inevitable this summer! Noisy extractor fan outside window.

A very pleasant stay in...
Liked: We stayed for 5 nights , due to work commitments it should have been longer. We were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of finish in our sky view room ,with outside light through a rise and fall glass roof panel for extra ventilation though the air conditioning was good enough anyway. At night a switch at the bedside could draw a blind over the panel avoiding any glare from street lights or early morning sun etc. There was a modern walk in shower, panelling and units very tastefully done ,situated towards a newer side of the building and further back from the noisy road it was dead quite at night, great for a good nights sleep.(if road noise is an issue front rooms may not be for you)In the morning the buffet breakfast had a good choice of cereals both cooked and continental breakfast types were plentiful and good quality.I would think the best choices were before 8.30 am ,even though there were constant refills by the staff, most busiest time seemed to be around then. The pool was quite small but adequate with a poolside jacuzzi which was nice and relaxing after a long day exploring on foot. The sauna was as you would expect, as the weather was lovely and warm outside you could have been in it on your own on our visit The main reception is at one end along a corridor with glass panelling all along and inset setting if there were some rain or wait for a taxi to the front car park.Evening buffet was great value for money with a different menu each night and even better for residents a little extra discount.Outside the restaurant the lounge sofa area beside the bar were at the weekend a talented saxophonist played while those listening enjoyed the atmosphere and craic (fun). For an open air experience the roof top decking area gave great views along the beach just yards in front of the hotel and the lido area further along. We had no children with us but gather there was a games area. All the staff were pleasant and hard working.
Disliked: Only small things like a hair in the bathroom and what looked like a hair showing through under the sheet. At the end of the stay the main room light switch seemed to fail, though there were other lights and didn't effect us much. This hotel is situated at the extreme edge of the Sr.Helier sea front area, so on foot or bus from front door if the centre of St.Helier is where you want to go.
