We were happy to stay...

Liked: A good room, plenty of space and a good bathroom, we were traveling with a dog which may have had some bearing on the room choice made by the reception staff.
Disliked: The room service/bar menu was not to our liking. Breakfast was not a great standard, there is no egg station or it was not offered/advertised upon entrance to the breakfast room.

Highly disappointed, not a 5...

Liked: The staff was very nice. The location is good. The pool is big. The building is an historical landmark, from the outside only.
Disliked: Marriott, what happened?? The 5 stars requirements boxes may have been ticked, but not the spirit, ambiance nor quality. The hotel smells like swimming pool chlorine. The modern rooms are to be avoided, better go to a 2 stars. We have been upgraded to a traditional room, thanks to the very understanding and thoughtful staff. And it was indeed much better. No comparison. It is chocking to see a 5 stars would keep such rooms and low quality (floor broken, holes on walls, gloomy, no coffee).The hotel was decorated with a mix of Klimt posters, unexpected modern paintings, old style paintings. Nothing in harmony. The bar and its lobby are fully in red. Quite puzzling.The breakfast was ok, and the staff great again, but the room felt like a student refectory.I never wrote such a feedback, first time of my life, but I could not believe how this beautiful place was mistreated not mentioning us who pay for the 5 stars experience.

Liked: Good location, loads to do in Rouen. Hotel is undergoing refurbishment of the main entrance but our room was in need of renewal. The bathroom was tatty with cracked floor tiles and poor grouting in the shower area, the wall hook was too loose for a robe to hang on. This made the room price difficult to justify
Disliked: The garishness of the black and red bar decoration on the ground floor . For a medieval building it is not complimentary.

Liked: Sheets were like cream, so soft.The shower and bath were hot.The towels were fresh and fluffyThe spa/pool was amazing.The breakfast covered all bases.
