Anonymous, visiting MTelus Montreal Tue, 19 May 2015

The room was pre-booked close to a month in advance and when we arrived at the hotel a little after 12pm we were told we had to wait until 3 o'clock for the room to be ready. When we arrived in our hotel room, we saw that it was not the room that was advertised online. Around 10pm when we returned to the hotel to get some sleep, we noticed that not only was the bed wet, but it had a brown stain. At that time, we decided to go downstairs to the lobby to make a complaint. When talking to the clerk at the front desk, he told us that we could not change rooms because the hotel was all booked and that there was no one on staff that could help us out at that time of night. At that point the clerk decided to change the bed sheets himself and asked us to wait for him to return. Although the clerk told us to wait, we went upstairs anyways to check on things. When we arrived in the room, he had finished removing the bed sheets and had to quickly leave for a moment to get new ones. We saw that he used pillows to disguise an even worse stain on the mattress cover that trailed down the length of the bed. Although he had covered up the stain as best he could by the time he finished changing the sheets, the bed was still not properly made and was left dishevelled. When we asked if it was possible to get a refund, the clerk told us to speak with the manager who would be available in the morning. When we went to check out the next morning, we spoke to another clerk about our experience and asked to see the manager. We were told that the manager was not on site that day, and that the hotel does not give any refunds for bad service and that they only provide a complimentary breakfast for the next time we visit. On another note, aside from the fact that sleep that night was virtually impossible added to the fact that the maids were talking very loudly at around 6am, the carpet in the room was very greasy and had crumbs of things on it, the soaps that were left for us to use were not sufficient for two people, and the hotel clerk that had helped change the bed sheets was very short tempered with us.

Liked: We were able to leave our luggage with the hotel which allowed us to roam around the city while we waited for our room.
Disliked: The room was pre-booked close to a month in advance. We arrived at the hotel at a little after 12pm and we were told we had to wait until 3:30pm to get a room. Service was poor in general, the room was not up to our standards, and maids were talking and laughing as loud as possible in the hallways at 6am in the morning. Also, around 11pm, there was a family sleeping in the lobby.

This hotel is a little dated - furniture old and TV not HD. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and the location was perfect for our needs. I always plan to pay to park in Montreal and when the parking is actually attached to the hotel I consider that a plus.

Liked: Great location; friendly staff.
Disliked: A little dated.

My trip to Montreal Tuesday...

Liked: The location was perfectly fine . I was able to see everything that I wanted and the places was in a walking distance . The room was clean , everything was provided ,Iam refering to shampoo ,towels and soap. Used the coffee machine with no problems and the manual even the kid can understand . I liked the lighting at the hallways and elevator was bright. Room was clean ,bed comfortable ,I slept like an elephant shot with tranquilizer ,all because of the quality of the mattress . Defenetely breakfast at the hotel was worth the money . It is the buffet . The fruits selection , tasty coffee , meat selection everything was well cooked and mouthwashing . Just give it a try if you will have a chance .
Disliked: The long line during check in . But it was only one man working for some reason .

Could be better even for...

Liked: Good view from the window. The unit was pretty spacious. No bedbugs.
Disliked: The unit had been poorly maintained. Half of the electric outlets didn't work. The light above the mirror in the bathroom wasn't working. There wasn't enough light in bathroom. The bathroom ventilation fan was extremely and uncomfortably noisy. The bathtube was in a bad condition. On check-in I was asked to sign a paper having quite a lot of text on it (the standard thing that I must not damage the hotel, must not smoke and things like that, I guess) and it was in French only. No English version was available (I asked). I understand that this is Quebec province and the main language here is French. But a hotel is a special place to where people come from different places and for various reasons and not everybody knows the language. As long as the law allows to have and sign documents in English, such opportunity could've been offered to guests, in my opinion.

Good location but not a...

Liked: Size of room, good outlets for charging devices
Disliked: Bed sheets didn't tuck in, not fitted bottom sheet so constantly moving about making it uncomfortable, pillows appalling. I know there are restrictions on hotels because of covid, but staying 5 nights not even clean towels, and had to ask at reception for additional coffee etc. Also, afternoon/evening reception staff were very slow - we waited over half an hour to collect our bags when only two couples checked in, and there were other people still queuing in front of us. We had to push to the front as we had to get to the airport but when we suggested they needed more staff the guy working said he didn't need more staff, just fewer people giving him grief!

Liked: Great location
Disliked: Although a 3 star property, I would expect cleanliness to be paramount, dated decor and dirty carpets in the room.

Liked: convenient location. was there for work at convention center and incidentally went to F1. really get location for both. easy 20 min walk or so to old montreal. comfortable bed. working AC. good water pressure and temp.
