The Spotlight on Hotel Chrome Montreal Centre-Ville

Affordable Comfort Steps from Montreal's Music Scene

Modern and budget-friendly, Hotel Chrome Montreal Centre-Ville places you right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Located between Saint-Denis and Saint-Laurent streets and just a short walk from the historic Chinatown district, this hotel is set in a lively, central area filled with character. With practical amenities like free WiFi, an on-site restaurant, and convenient transportation links, it’s a reliable base whether you're here for a single show or a weekend of music.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a 10-minute walk from Saint Laurent Metro Station, giving you quick access to major concert venues throughout the city. The area is vibrant but the hotel itself stays relatively quiet at night—perfect for winding down after a loud show. The 24-hour front desk makes late check-ins easy, and you can even arrange an airport shuttle if needed.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable, central place to crash
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list show
  • Couples making a weekend of music and exploring Montreal
  • Fans wanting some quiet recovery time after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want value without sacrificing location

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Lester’s Deli Resto Bar serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a laid-back setting—ideal for grabbing a bite before or after a show. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the restaurant offers a full bar and a solid breakfast menu that runs late enough to suit night owls. Plus, you’re steps from a variety of eateries in Chinatown and downtown.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you’re within walking distance of some of Montreal’s most popular bars, clubs, and music lounges. Whether you're into jazz, indie rock, or late-night cocktails, you’ll have no trouble finding a spot to keep the night going. The on-site bar is also a convenient option for a pre-show drink.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s central location and easy access to public transit. Many highlight it as a great value for budget travelers, noting that the rooms are simple but well-equipped with everything from a fridge to a coffee maker. The free WiFi and friendly staff also get consistent praise.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the decor is a little dated and the building could use a refresh. Others noted occasional elevator delays. But if you're here to catch concerts and explore the city, these are minor trade-offs for the location and price.

The Bottom Line

If you’re coming to Montreal for the music and want a central, no-fuss place to stay, Hotel Chrome Montreal Centre-Ville hits the sweet spot between budget and convenience.

Anonymous, visiting MTelus Montreal

The room was pre-booked close to a month in advance and when we arrived at the hotel a little after 12pm we were told we had to wait until 3 o'clock for the room to be ready. When we arrived in our hotel room, we saw that it was not the room that was advertised online. Around 10pm when we returned to the hotel to get some sleep, we noticed that not only was the bed wet, but it had a brown stain. At that time, we decided to go downstairs to the lobby to make a complaint. When talking to the clerk at the front desk, he told us that we could not change rooms because the hotel was all booked and that there was no one on staff that could help us out at that time of night. At that point the clerk decided to change the bed sheets himself and asked us to wait for him to return. Although the clerk told us to wait, we went upstairs anyways to check on things. When we arrived in the room, he had finished removing the bed sheets and had to quickly leave for a moment to get new ones. We saw that he used pillows to disguise an even worse stain on the mattress cover that trailed down the length of the bed. Although he had covered up the stain as best he could by the time he finished changing the sheets, the bed was still not properly made and was left dishevelled. When we asked if it was possible to get a refund, the clerk told us to speak with the manager who would be available in the morning. When we went to check out the next morning, we spoke to another clerk about our experience and asked to see the manager. We were told that the manager was not on site that day, and that the hotel does not give any refunds for bad service and that they only provide a complimentary breakfast for the next time we visit. On another note, aside from the fact that sleep that night was virtually impossible added to the fact that the maids were talking very loudly at around 6am, the carpet in the room was very greasy and had crumbs of things on it, the soaps that were left for us to use were not sufficient for two people, and the hotel clerk that had helped change the bed sheets was very short tempered with us.

Liked: We were able to leave our luggage with the hotel which allowed us to roam around the city while we waited for our room.
Disliked: The room was pre-booked close to a month in advance. We arrived at the hotel at a little after 12pm and we were told we had to wait until 3:30pm to get a room. Service was poor in general, the room was not up to our standards, and maids were talking and laughing as loud as possible in the hallways at 6am in the morning. Also, around 11pm, there was a family sleeping in the lobby.

This hotel is a little dated - furniture old and TV not HD. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and the location was perfect for our needs. I always plan to pay to park in Montreal and when the parking is actually attached to the hotel I consider that a plus.

Liked: Great location; friendly staff.
Disliked: A little dated.

Convenient location for a short...

Liked: Only the location to Old Montreal, Chinatown m, rue Sainte-Catherine and the 747 bus stop.
Disliked: Lack of coffee machine and safe in the room, that I had to walk ten minutes just to buy hot water to have my tea each morning and the lack of a operating safety deposit box for locking up valuables such as Nexus card, iPad, chargers, jewelry.

Great...we enjoyed our stay and...

Liked: What breakfast? The dining room/coffee bar? was 'closed for renovation'. Sad, though. We were looking forward to having breakfast and a good cup of coffee in the morning.
Disliked: Not much could be better aside from the out of service dining room. It is a very nice older hotel and with a little love and care, it can be brought back to it's former glory

Very Very NOISY. Dated place...

Liked: There is construction work going on next door. It is VERY VERY NOISY, they start about 6.30am.Not the hotels fault but a warning would have been nice. Pay extra for the underground parking (but you cannot pre-book) the spaces are OK sized and it's secure. You get the basics and nothing more. Large clean but dated room. Bed with clean bedding. (It should be clean when the cleaning staff ask for a tip!). Bathroom with one bath towel each and one hand towel to share; two teeny, tiny bars of soap, and some cheap soapy stuff in the shower. There is loads of hot water which is great. Large TV, but ours did not work very well. WIFI is free but rubbish, it is slow and it kept stopping. Great location for walking into Old Montreal and to the port area. Not great for sleeping, too noisy. No kettle, no mugs, no extra towels and no 24 hour free coffee, which makes this place expensive; but I guess you are paying for it's location.
Disliked: Despite staying two nights we were given the room opposite the lift, so no peace for us with people coming and going at all hours. Also, the room was on floor 8, right next to the construction site, who are very very loud. The room's window glass is thin so the traffic is noisy at all hours. Terrible lighting, there are only lights above the bed so the rest of the room is very dark. Plus, the switch to turn the lights off is around the corner by the door. So you have to choose which one of you is going to turn the lights off, then stumble back to bed, hoping not to stub a toe on the chair/table/bed. The air conditioning unit is older than my gran, but it did work in a very noisy fashion. The bathroom extractor fan is noisy enough to wake the dead, so don't need a wee at 2.30AM. Our TV would not work on the Samsung TV PLUS or YouTube channels, it worked for ten minutes then the picture would freeze until the TV was turned off. Then when turned back on it would work for another ten minutes, then freeze again; and repeat, until you decide TV is not that important after all. WIFI is free but TERRIBLE, it is so slow and it kept stopping altogether. No kettle, no mugs, no extra towels and no 24 hour free coffee, which we have gotten in the other seven hotels we have stayed in while in Canada. That makes this place expensive but I guess you are paying for the location. There is construction work going on next door. It is VERY VERY NOISY, they start about 6.30am.We definitely would not stay here again.

Not bad, not good

Liked: Large room, very comfortable bed, bathroom cleen, good position in town
Disliked: Common area not clean enough, poor maintenance for the structure, noise from air conditioning system, expecially from external fans placed on roof which are very disturbing due to vibrations
