Hôtel Charlemagne

Wouldn't want to stay here...

Liked: The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious, we had booked the bigger room so we wouldn't be cramped. Bathroom was good but the separate toilet is very small. There is an adjoining door to the bedroom so we used this as the toilet door instead.
Disliked: The Aircon was dreadful! They run it with a 7 degrees limit to the outside temp and it was the middle of a heatwave. 40 degrees outside made for a very warm room making sleep difficult. Aircon never got below 26 degrees. We asked for a fan which was provided. Wouldn't stay here again in the height of summer. Breakfast was ok, not the best selection of options

Liked: The staff was great and helpful. Location perfect for us. J nice breakfast and outdoors seating available. The hotel has a nice courtyard
Disliked: We would've liked a fridge in the room and a stronger shower.

Liked: Friendly staff. Nice bar and public spaces
Disliked: The first time I stayed I was in a pokey room but on the way home I was given a beautiful room with a balcony for a similar price.

Fantastic getaway for great value.

Liked: Great value. Location is right next to tram and bus stops. Easily accessible to Gare Part Dieu. Great access to other popular spots in Lyon and a short walk away from Les Confluences. Standard/Comfort room was clean.
Disliked: Rooms are a bit small. Lift was also small. Breakfast selection was not great in variety but decent enough.

Great location for a mid...

Liked: Good comfortable hotel room close the train station. The hotel was away from main tourist area, but we knew this. Enjoyed the view onto the church next door. Good value for the money, with full breakfast included.
Disliked: Small separate toilet area, had to have door ajar as was a bit claustrophobic.
