Liked: A great Surprise!I stayed at Hotel Bodoni in Florence for about two weeks. Given that it is a budget hotel, I was prepared for a lower standard and hoped it would meet a basic level that wouldn't detract from the wonderful experience of staying in Florence. The surprise was perfect. This is a small, clean, organized, and well-maintained hotel. The air-conditioned rooms are comfortable and clean, and the service is very dedicated and familial. The reception operates 24/7, and the staff is happy to assist and solve any problem. There is fast wireless internet throughout the hotel.The hotel's location is excellent - a short walking distance from all the attractions, with a large supermarket and a pharmacy across the street.The breakfast is very good - you can eat on a beautiful rooftop terrace or in the air-conditioned hotel restaurant.In short, this is a hotel I would be happy to return to even when not on a budget trip, offering excellent value for money.
Disliked: The water pressure and warmth could be better.

Decent for what it is.

Liked: The location is great. The breakfast is okay. The room is okay. The price is good for the area. Easy walking access to all touristy locations. Parking is extra cost and the employees from the parking came to get the car for us.
Disliked: The bathroom was kind of an open concept with no partition between the toilet and shower. The beds, bedding and towels were a little old but clean.

Liked: Close to the main streets of the city centre. Decent selection at the breakfast buffet with breads, butter, toppings, yoghurts, cereal, juices etc. The basic things.
Disliked: It is a very old building so it has a small elevator which barely fits 2 people unless they squeeze in. Weird layout where the reception is at floor 6 or something but the rooms are at floor 2 or 3. They had a strange policy where you have to leave the key to the room at the reception every time before going out so every time we had to either take this old elevator up to the reception floor or the stairs to leave the key before going out and then back down, and also go all the way up to get the key before being able to get to the room. The old elevator is also really slow and if you're lucky you only have to wait around 10 minutes for the elevator but the first time we arrived with our bags we waited more than that due to the elevator going up and down without reaching us so we got tired of waiting and had to carry all our luggage up the stairs by the room floor, leave them there, climb up 4 floors to the reception, get the key and then climb back down to the room floor.

Don't recommend

Liked: Pretty clean and good value
Disliked: The shower was not really a shower, but a shower head right next to the sink without anything in between (see picture). And not only that, the water pressure was pretty much non-existent, just a slight drip coming from it. Despite that, the entire bathroom floor would get soaked anyway. The interior is dated and smells slightly weird and the hotel is located in a somewhat shady neighbourhood with a hangout spot right next to it. The staff in our experience were kind of meh, we felt somewhat uncomfortable during the interactions. Lastly, you have to leave your key in the hotel when you go out. They don't give you a pass or anything to get it back, so, theoretically, someone else could go to the reception and ask for your room key and get it without question. I asked a staff member about this and he seemed surprised that I didn't really trust this policy. So, in summary, I would spend just a tad more on a hotel and go somewhere else, not really recommended.

We would definitely stay at...

Liked: The front desk and support staff were excellent. Thank you Alex for all your help and advice. Location was just outside of tourist center with very good local stores and restaurants. Check out the restaurants and gelato stops in Piazza di San Pier Maggiore. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment which was roomy enough for the three of us, though it could use more seating in the living room.
Disliked: We would have liked more selection for breakfast, especially a capuccino rather than brewed coffee. That said, breakfast was free and would be adequate for most. We walked a couple blocks to pay for what we wanted, which was fine.
