Hotel air conditioning unit way too loud. Bar service and staff exceptional. Staff at hotel lobby should have some kind of uniform, not plain clothes.

Exactly what we wanted. Staggering distance from the Commodore! Clean and comfortable.

Liked: Nice staff. Clean hotel.
Disliked: Key cards were annoying. Had to go to front desk several times to get them fixed.

All and all it was a lousy experience and I would like my money back .

Disliked: The room was very small; the sheets were clean but the bedding smelled stale; the elevator was out of order when we came back from Cirque du Soleil. I am 73 years old with knee problem and I had to walk 5 flights of stairs to get back to our room; the staff at the front desk were rude and indifferent - I asked if they had a service elevator and they said there was no service elevator, and told us that since it was not an emergency the elevator would probably not be fixed for 3 or 4 more hours, and had no way of helping me out. So I struggled up 5 flights of stairs. The breakfast was lukewam. The $139 room ended up costing close to $190. They did not tell us on arrival that parking was $18 - another lovely surprise.

A Legit Great Place to...

Liked: The room was super cozy and looked newly renovated. It had delicious Nespresso coffee & a comfy bed. We also couldn't get over how sound proof the room was considering its location; we'd stay here again for that reason alone. The main lobby doors are locked at night and can only be accessed with your room key; this made us feel safer. The elevator also required the room key! The parking lot for the hotel was directly beside it as well and only $30 to park for the night so much cheaper than other hotels we've stayed at.
Disliked: It's in a busy area of downtown so just be aware of the interesting characters you may interact with.

Sleepless night in Vancouver

Liked: Poor lightingI had no sleep as there was a loud vibrating noise outside our room that started at 10.30pm and lasted all night. The staff however were lovely and hopefully this will be fixed and the next person won’t have the same problem

Sweet spot to stay, not...

Liked: Great little spot, retro chic decor in an exceptional location! Easy walking or Uber access to all the downtown spots. Lots of great food options close by, which was great because the only dislike we had while staying here was the breakfast option. The posters were definitely misleading by claiming the breakfast was "sumptuous". We were disappointed with the spread that was definitely not sumptuous nor delicious in any way. Soggy, mushy tater tots trying to be hashbrowns. Rubbery scrambled eggs. Sweating, curled up cheese and salami. Unripened fruits. Shriveled up, overcooked sausages. The yogurt cups were decent, but that was thanks to Yoplait. Other than that, we would definitely stay here again. Staff were helpful. Bed was really comfy and the shower with the Skoah products definitely made up for the awful breakfast. We would highly recommend taking a 5 minute walk to Brunch Vancouver for one of the best brunches we had during our short stay. The Netflix streaming option was also nice after a long day out and about. Overall this spot is a 10/10 for comfort, cleanliness, value and location.

Good

Liked: Very friendly staff, good location
Disliked: We had housekeeping opening the door twice when we were inside the room (they knocked quickly and opened. One time, I asked to wait and she opened anyway). Our room had a very loud noise, I think from the bottom room heating system. It made the floor shake. We asked someone to come check, they said someone would come in half an hour, we waited for almost an hour and no one came, so we had to leave.Something that bothered me a lot is that there's no main light in the bed area, only side lamps, so by night the light was not good.
