Overall, it was a nice place but one that seemed to be justifying its rates based on location and little else. I'd stay there again but not before looking at other options in the area first.
Liked: The location couldn't be beat!
Disliked: Wifi was down the entire weekend. Not a big deal except when you're paying $330 a night.

Overpriced and Overrated
Liked: The French Cafe
Disliked: All of it - unattractive lobby. very dirty rooms and generally not well maintained. Had a cockroach in bathroom and smells were bad from bathroom most days. Housekeeping standards very poor eg. Hairs not removed from bathroom drains even after cleaning ! Front desk and management ineffective in resolving problems !

Liked: Loved the location - close to subways and Central Park without being too close to the hustle and bustle of mid-town. Lots of amenities and places to eat nearby. Rooms were clean and not too noisy.
Disliked: The room was a little tired and needs updating. There was an air conditioner unit in the room surrounded by plywood which wasn?t sealed and a cold draft when the wind blew.

Nice location, you get what...
Liked: The room was a little tight, floor plan. The bathroom could use more counter space. It would be nice to have coffee in the room.
The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was modern with nice bath products. A safe was provided. Also plenty of hangers.
Disliked: See above

Nice room for the money...
Liked: Great location on the residential Upper West Side. Convenient to subways. Great nearby restaurants and shopping. The hotel has recently remodeled its lobby, and it's definitely an improvement. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was pleasant. I had previously stayed in a standard room, and found it uncomfortably small, so this time I opted for a deluxe king room, which was definitely more spacious, but not without a few minor problems as noted below. I would happily stay here again, though it would not be my first choice in the neighborhood.
Disliked: While the room was fairly spacious, especially for New York and for the price, there were a couple of things I found off-putting about the room. First, there are no drawers or cubbies for storing your clothes, so you have to be happy to live out of a suitcase for the most part--which is fine for a couple of nights, but not my preference for a longer stay. The closet is very small, and the clothes have to be angled on the hangers in order to close the closet door. I had called ahead to get the square footage of the room, and I am not sure I got accurate information. There is no coffee maker in the room--though I was happy to find a corkscrew. The mini-fridge is piled with pricey snacks which take up space (where a coffee maker could be placed). There is no exhaust fan or window in the bathroom, and no thermostat to adjust the room temperature (though you can manually adjust the a/c; not sure about the heat). These are of course, minor matters, and they would not keep me from booking here again when the rates are competitive, but these are details that add up and impacted my "comfort" rating for this hotel.
