The Spotlight on Hotel Balkan

Affordable, No-Fuss Comfort Close to London’s Top Venues

Hotel Balkan is a simple, budget-friendly stay located in West London, just a short stroll from Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush. With five Tube stations within half a mile, free Wi-Fi, and en-suite rooms, this hotel is ideal for fans looking to stay close to the action without breaking the bank.
Rooms are compact but well-equipped, each featuring a private bathroom, fridge, tea/coffee facilities, and satellite TV. The location puts you within walking distance of some of London’s most iconic live music venues, plus free parking is available on evenings and weekends – a rare perk in the city.

Why Concert-goers love it

Hotel Balkan is just under a mile from the Hammersmith Apollo, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and Lyric Hammersmith, making it a great base for catching a show. With 24/7 check-in and luggage storage available, it's super convenient for those arriving late or heading straight to the venue. Although the hotel doesn’t offer nightlife itself, you're just minutes from bars and pubs in Hammersmith. Plus, being outside the Congestion Charge Zone is a bonus for drivers.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a no-frills place to crash after a gig
  • Solo travelers on a mission to see their favorite artist
  • Couples planning a music-filled weekend getaway
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space in a residential neighborhood
  • Budget-conscious music fans needing a clean and comfy base

Food and Drink Options

While Hotel Balkan doesn’t offer on-site dining, you’re spoilt for choice nearby. A quick walk takes you to a variety of cafes, pubs, and late-night eateries. You’ll find everything from kebabs to cozy brunch spots. No 24-hour room service here, but you won’t go hungry with so many options outside. Breakfast isn’t served on-site, so plan for a walk to a local café the morning after your gig.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself is quiet, you’re within reach of some of West London’s top nightlife. Catch pre- or post-show drinks at local pubs in Hammersmith or head to nearby venues for live music. The area has a laid-back vibe, perfect for low-key nights out before or after a concert.

What People Say

Guests love the location for its convenience to major venues and transport links. Reviews highlight the clean rooms, friendly staff, and surprisingly quiet atmosphere despite being close to busy areas. The value for money is frequently praised, especially by concert-goers who just need a place to sleep after a late night.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel isn’t fancy, and some guests mention that the decor and facilities are a bit dated. Rooms are compact, and there’s no lift, so pack light if you're on an upper floor. No air conditioning means summer stays can be a bit warm – but hey, it’s London.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Balkan is a solid, budget-friendly option for music lovers looking for a clean, convenient base near West London’s top venues.

Exceptional

Liked: Bhí an próiseas ar fad an-éasca. Bhí glanadh an tseomra foirfe agus bhí an fhoireann taitneamhach.

Liked: Nothing. We were lucky to meet a nice person from next door property who offerred us a room there.
Disliked: Stinking basement with stuck window, hairs on the bed, towels on the floor, refurbishment ongoing. This shouldnt be allowed to rent

Good location & cheap. Don't...

Liked: Location is very good for the Hammersmith Apollo. A few pubs, restautants and cafes around
Disliked: The staff left me standing at the front door for 20 mins after they had seen me, I even dropped my bags there for them to look after earlier on. The ceiling in the shower was mouldy. For the price i paid, my expectations were low

Stranded outside hotel.

Disliked: Got stranded outside as there was no one to give access to hotel. Called their number multiple times and straight to voice mail. No call backs.

A generally pleasant stay with...

Liked: The room was equipped with complimentary toiletries, including shower gel, shampoo, a bar of soap, cotton swabs, and even a nail file – a thoughtful detail I haven’t seen often elsewhere. The hallway always smelled fresh, which made a good impression. There was a large fan in the room, which was very helpful during warmer days. The check-in and check-out process went smoothly. The staff member was polite and helpful.Overall, aside from the carpet, the room seemed clean.
Disliked: The carpet in the room looked very old, stained, and unhygienic – it gave off a strong unpleasant odor, reminiscent of sweaty feet. I strongly recommend removing or replacing it.•For the price, I expected more than just one large bath towel. At the very least, there should be a separate hand towel and a small mat or towel for the feet.•There was no “Do Not Disturb” sign or any notification system to let cleaning staff know if guests didn’t want their room cleaned. I wasn’t informed that someone would enter the room, and I would have preferred to be notified beforehand.•The bathroom was extremely small. Upon entering, I accidentally injured my hip on a sharp metal fixture near the heater. This part should definitely be covered or protected to avoid accidents in such a confined space.•The bed had a noticeable dip in the middle, which affected comfort.•It was initially confusing to find the entrance. According to Google Maps, I arrived directly at the building, but there was no doorbell or clear signage. There is a check-in point in the building to the left of the main hotel entrance, but that could be better marked for first-time guests.

Avoid at all cost !!

Liked: Nothing. We did not stay as it was so bad
Disliked: This is not a hotel - more like a squat. The rooms were disgustingly filthy, mouldy bathrooms, rusted towel rails, very worn headboards. Junk in the hallways. The place stank of smoke. We felt very unsafe and quickly booked elsewhere. Was advised that we could get a refund but after calling, emailing and requesting a cancellation through booking.com we have been ingnored. This place should be condemned.

Good location

Liked: Great location, lots of transport, restaurant and shop opportunities. The cleaning lady was very helpful. The beds were comfortable. Towels got changed 2 times in 4 days.
Disliked: Family room (5 ppl) was booked. The room was smaller then advertised. There was no courtyard (as on pics) or reception there. The reception was at the Euro hotel. The receptionist wasn't too helpful, had to ask for things more times. Have to pay when you arrive. The cabinet was very small, not enough for 5 people. No space for luggage or to dry towels. Hand towels had to be asked for. The hotel is next to a very noisy and busy road.
