Liked: - spa and pool area- friendly staff- gorgeous view- unmatched breakfast
Disliked: - the 85 - 95 °C panorama sauna was always too hot with the thermometer showing 100 °C throughout whenever we used it during our 3 day stay. Since we are frequent sauna users, we have some experience too judge this. staff needs too check more closely for that as we almost burned our skin. maybe better remove the water buckets from this sauna as unexperienced sauna users might forget to vent the room properly before putting water over the hot stones- clean plastic cups in the sauna area were frequently gone in the evening i.e. one had to go to the reception and ask for new cleaned cups otherwise one couldn't enjoy the free tea and water- some of the massage jets in the pool did not work even though we properly pushed the adjacent submerged button- some of the skirting boards in our room were loose- the towel rails were loose- even though we got a room upgrade, our toilet didn't have a normal door, only a sliding door i.e. toilet noises are well hearable for the 2nd person :-(- there was a strange, somehow unsettling picture in our room showing underwear drying on a line (see attached picture)

Liked: The wellness facilities were excellent. Paul was exceptional and friendly as a staff member.
Disliked: The wifi needs boosters throughout the hotel as the connection kept dropping. The spa bathrobes need to be larger and longer.

Disliked: Small room with no windows, infinity pool was a little cold

A mixed experience

Liked: Fabulous views from the roomBalcony was nice touchThe basement sauna and steam facility was pretty good some of the staff, Jorge and Daniel were nice Good restaurant next door, we didn’t want the fixed menu at this hotel so couldn’t comment on the food - although breakfast was satisfactory
Disliked: Some staff were rude, and shouldn’t be in hospitality, we felt like we were walking on eggshells for first few days Rooms were pretty basic, not great at keeping out noise. Pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable Style of hotel was odd, with tacky posters and strange neon lights that made it look like a nightclub Expensive rates for Oct and what hotel actually offers There is contemporary music playing constantly through the building but they are badly done cover versions and so you can listen to all your favorites being butchered! Wanted to like the hotel but it was a real mixed bag

Overpriced hotel with out dated...

Liked: The location, across the road from the lake with beautifulViews of the snow capped mountains overlooking the lake.
Disliked: Odd behaviour of staff eg. I had dinner in the hotel on one of the nights I was there. I came early hoping to get a table by the window and watch the sunset. However I was advised that these tables were reserved for guests who were eating dinner at the hotel every night. The window tables remained empty for the duration of my meal. I compromised by taking a glass of wine out to the deck beyond the dinning room, from there I had an interrupted view of the sunset and was also blocking the view of the privileged few allowed to occupy the window tables😃. I found the meal very ordinary eg the fish option was steamed cod in white sauce 🤣😖. I really enjoy staying at upmarket interesting hotels and stayed in some fabulous places during my stay in Germany. The Hotel Hopfensee did not measure up. The pool is pretty but very small.
