My stay at the Alex...

Liked: I loved the location right in the center of Rapid City and the fact that the Alex Johnson is an historic hotel made my stay very special. Also, Cynthia, at the front desk was GREAT, VERY HELPFUL!
Disliked: The room smelled a little like cigarette smoke and I think it was the carpeting or AC. The hotel offered a deep cleaning free of charge and I was told the rooms are about to be renovated with hardwood flooring.

Disliked: the bartender had no clue about drinks he served us the wrong drink wrong glass and do expensive

Liked: The hotel was beautiful, great location, and comfortable room. I loved the gift shop with a good variety of merchandise. The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Paying for valet since there is no parking available.

Liked: Beautiful architecture, great history well displayed, nice shop attached. Included breakfast at Starbucks- attached. Rooftop bar with a worthwhile view. Talented bartender, Benji!

Disliked: We got held up on the new elevator, when other customers hit the button to use the elevator. They chose not to get on with us, door closed, and we sat for a few minutes, before we figured out, we needed to open the door and "restart" our decent to the lobby.

Great rooms

Liked: The room was spacious and clean. Shower large and great water flow
Disliked: The lifts were strange and took a bit of getting used to. The on site pub was very lively and really not our thing.
