William, Providence, visiting Brooklyn Mirage

My partner and I stayed two nights at the Hotel RL (Red Lion) Brooklyn before a DJ Snake concert at The Brooklyn Mirage. If you're unfamiliar with this area of Brooklyn, you may find the location a bit unusual and the rooms a bit small. We had a pleasant stay at an affordable price (for NYC). Hotel RL Brooklyn was perfect for our purposes and a $10 cab ride away from the venue!

Liked: Friendly staff; good location; smooth check in and check out!
Disliked: No mini fridge in the room.

Liked: Clean, comfortable beds. Clean bathroom. Vinyl flooring. Train station close to hotel, local buses on Broadway, Dekalb Avenue, etc. Recommend Tulum Restaurant for dinner and happy hour, manager and staff are very accommodating, food is delicious, sangría is refreshing. Brooklyn Cafetería for breakfast, and café con leche. Bagel shop near by is very good too!
Disliked: Metal hooks under a high shelf for clothes, no cabinet or small dresser for toiletries. A mini-fridge would be a plus.You have to go to the basement for water and ice, and there is a small microwave but we didn't use it. Dogs in the room across from ours barked every time they heard people come and go! The hotel elevator and corridors have dirty carpeted floors with musty smell.

Bare minimum, shady location, less...

Liked: I liked that I had a room....
Disliked: The room was bare minimum. No fridge, microwave, coffee pot, or even a room phone! No fan in the bathroom. There were 4 of us in the room for 3 nights, we ran out of soap and towels after the first night and had to call multiple times to have room service bring us more. We had to ask for room service every day to come clean the room and bring more towels and soap, which I think was ridiculous. When we checked out, our $100 cleaning deposit wasn't fully refunded, they tried to keep $48. When I called she tried to tell me that was a normal "daily service charge" and when I asked why that came out of the cleaning fee and wasn't added to the reservation total she then claimed it was a "technical error and she'd get it fully refunded"
