great city, good for walking,...

Liked: great location, great kitchen where you could fix and eat food -- very helpful staff
Disliked: security issue - easy to get in with electronic 'code' and find a bed and pull curtain for privacy -- easy to sneak into the place, then leave after you have a few hours sleep and take a shower - the front 'office' which is also the kitchen, iis often empty - very easy to sneak in, and if you are desperate.... Many homeless people in area, also drug issue in neighborhood -- Duluth is like opera of 1900, era of Duluth zenith

Very good

Liked: I didn't see any breakfast but that doesn't mean they didn't have it. Other than that I like the location and the price was ok.
Disliked: The tricky pricing, I've said this before also, nothing changed about that though. Here's the thing I booked it from an ad saying 36.00 for the night, twin bed with other beds too. ( that is fine and exactly what I asked for) so, 36 for the night ended up paying 52 and change. Which is very close to double the advertised price, now I suppose like most folks, once I'm already at the last screen to pay I just said "fine it's getting late and I just want to be done". So I paid it. However I could've gotten a private room at another hotel for 59.00 had I remembered that from the last time, I would've just gone with the private room for just 7 more dollars. Thanks

Bad

Disliked: The place smelled bad and some man came in at 3am screaming about how he wanted to kill his girlfriend. I felt unsafe at the property

A great hostel in a...

Liked: I loved the location, it was close to everything! I loved how close it was to Canal Park and that it was in the heart of downtown. The beds were super comfortable and I slept like a baby! The sauna and cold plunge made it exceptional!
Disliked: The bathrooms could have been a little cleaner, but overall it was a great hostel experience!

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

It might have been good...

Liked: Location hard to beat, despite the Covid-diminished downtown. Close to a coffeehouse, cafes and a great bakery. A short walk to Canal Park and museums. The hostel staff members I encountered in the morning were very friendly.
Disliked: Heat was cranked up and very little air circulation on the main floor. Curtain on bunk was important for privacy, as I was situated near a hallway door and two bathrooms, but the poor design made it very hard to pull the fabric open and closed. A tiny fan in the bunk cubbyhole was likewise essential (to make the temperature tolerable), but the USB plug was broken, so I had to forego charging my phone till morning. Tour of property didn’t mention key things like entrance to sauna and location of towels. No visible place to curl up and read (except bunk), though a spacious kitchen with seating.

Disappointing

Liked: I like the location. Even with the construction, it was easy to get to.When I arrived and saw where my assigned bunk was located, I stated that I did not feel safe being in that particular bunk, and the person at the desk did his best to find me another one that night. I had changed from 2 nights to use that one night, so I could make arrangements for one more night elsewhere.Although the new bunk was available for one night only, I took it, and it worked out fine.
Disliked: I woke up at quarter to 2 in the morning to a very heavy smell of skunk-like smell. I have a problem with this type of smell from the new marijuana. I had a headache, and I could not get back to sleep. There was also loud conversation outside that could be heard..For my locker, twice the Desk person had to come and open it up because it did not work properly. Once was the next morning at 7:30 or so.I have stayed here before, and it wasn't bad, but this wasn't the best it could have been. What did improve was that the person on hand was ready to assist and was very patient with me.
