Lovely staff, location and very...

Liked: Excellent location, situated close to Lewes and Glyndebourne. Lovely hotel with plenty of space and lovely relaxed gardens.
Disliked: Our only issue was with the wifi, because the hotel is in a bit of a blackspot for phone signal, we feel the wifi could have been stronger. We barely received one bar the whole time we were there.

Mixed feelings about this hotel

Liked: Beautiful building, good location, comfortable bedroom and good breakfast.
Disliked: There were lots of small surcharges on the dinner menu. Only the cheaper items were included so I ended up paying quite a lot for a dinner that was supposed to be included in the price of the room. Tablecloths were not used. That was a pity, for a special occasion dinner. The communal sitting room was brightly lit and had no character or atmosphere for an after-dinner coffee. Also, even in July, much of the garden looked tired and finished for the season - that could have been remedied by better maintenance.

Frustrating lack of communication.

Liked: Breakfast was good. Room was spacious.
Disliked: No air conditioning and it was hot. The only road giving access to the hotel was closed one night due to line painting and there was no sensible sign and we were not warned about it. This is very poor communication. In the stress of trying to get back to the closed off hotel I even picked up a speeding fine which ruined the day even more!

Liked: Breakfast & evening meal above average & generous portions. Excellent staff with patients & good communication skills.Room was excellent, clean & tidy.

Liked: We had a lovely time staying at the Horsted Place Hotel. The room was very spacious and clean with all amenities provided and a lovely personal touch! The breakfast was made to order and there was a good variety of options.

Liked: Service was very good at the hotel which is set in beautiful mature grounds. The building itself is interesting and comes with a fascinating history including royal connections. Comfort levels are high and the overall environment is very relaxing. There is lots of parking.
Disliked: Whilst accepting that this is a quality hotel which needs to cover its overheads, some of the drinks prices seemed excessive. We also felt that whilst the food was reasonable, and in a few cases good, it didn’t consistently match the standard of the surroundings in which it was served.
