Exceptional
Liked: Pam met us at check-in and was warm and informative. Horizon is beautifully situated away from the hurly-burly of downtown Carmel while only a few minutes away on foot. We enjoyed the happy hour of local wines and cheeses, the roominess of our room, the gas fireplace, and available parking. There was also a small hot tub for a good soak. The bedding was elegant. We had a hard time, though, adjusting to the pillows--either too big or too small and soft.We thought the window was locked in place but later figured out that it was merely stuck (Room 112).We liked the overhead fan, multiple mirrors, great shower. The robes were stylish but polyester and too warm.Overall, highly recommended.
Disliked: See above.

The staff were great bit...
Liked: It was ok but not what I expected
Disliked: The inn/🙏section where we stayed is very outdated. To enter the area where the bedroom is located smells musty/old . We kept the screen open til bedtime to ventilated the room

Just okay.
Liked: The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also really enjoyed the cozy outdoor area with a fire pit and jacuzzi, it was a great spot to relax in the evening. Our room had a view of the ocean, even though the ocean was a bit far in the distance. The location was also convenient, within walking distance to downtown and places to eat.
Disliked: Disappointing Stay for the PriceMy family and I visited Carmel from Southern California, and we were genuinely surprised by how overpriced this hotel was. We paid $400 per night and were expecting a well-maintained, beautiful room—but instead were met with something that looked like it hadn’t been updated in over a decade. The room was extremely outdated, and for the price, the amenities were disappointing. They provided one-ply toilet paper and facial tissues, which felt incredibly cheap given the nightly rate. Some of the towels even had faint yellow stains—not all, but enough to be noticeable and off-putting.While they do offer a complimentary breakfast basket in the morning, don’t expect anything elaborate. It included bagels, hard-boiled eggs, some fruit, and orange juice—basic at best.Living in Orange County and having stayed at beautiful beachfront hotels in the same price range, I honestly don’t understand why accommodations in Carmel are so expensive for what you get. The charm of the town doesn’t quite make up for the lack of value in this hotel stay.

Very enjoyable. Friendly Staff.
Liked: Breakfast was convenient and could request a basket the night before if leaving early in the morning.
Disliked: No A/C but did have a ceiling fan. Rooms tend to be a little stuffy.

Nice ambience, air is fresh,...
Disliked: Too much traffic outside, close to the street that there are lots of cars and noise. Should let visitors sign up for a 20-minute jacuzzi private time in advance.
