Liked: Pool…but it was shared by the garden inn next door , so we don’t know who really took care of it …but it was nice …
Disliked: Upon arrival, we were pleased with the check-in experience. The front desk staff was courteous and welcoming, which initially gave us a positive impression of the property.Unfortunately, that changed once we entered our room. As we were settling in, we moved the couch and discovered several concerning items underneath—including popcorn kernels, panty tags, and what appeared to be marijuana or tobacco crumbs. This was especially alarming because we were traveling with our two-year-old twins who immediately picked up a popcorn kernel—a serious choking hazard for a child his age.When we informed the staff, we were shocked to be handed a vacuum and told to clean the mess ourselves. In all my years of staying at hotels—and as a Hilton Honors member—this is the first time I’ve ever been asked to clean my own room. That level of service is simply unacceptable.Additionally, the room had a strong odor of stale cigarette smoke and marijuana, which made it very unpleasant for a non-smoking family.On a more positive note, the hotel staff remained friendly throughout our stay. I’d especially like to commend the woman managing the evening social hour and the cafeteria staff for their kindness and attentiveness. However, even breakfast had its issues—some of the bagels offered had visible mold on them, which raised further concerns about cleanliness and quality control. While it was nice to have a gym available, the stationary bike as well as the ellipticals did not work. There were also no sanitary wipes to clean the equipment even though they ask you to wipe down before and after use how can you do that when there’s no sanitation equipment available?We chose Homewood Suites based on the Hilton brand’s reputation for comfort and service, but unfortunately, this particular stay fell far short of expectations.
