The Spotlight on Holme Pierrepont Country Park Home of The National Water Sports Centre

Peaceful Parkland Stays Just Outside Nottingham

Modern and laid-back, Holme Pierrepont Country Park Home of The National Water Sports Centre sits within 270 acres of scenic parkland and lakelands in Nottinghamshire. Just a 10-minute drive from the city centre, this hotel blends the tranquility of nature with convenient access to Nottingham’s top entertainment venues. Rooms are simple and functional, each with a flat-screen TV, wardrobe, and private bathroom.

Why Concert-goers love it

Though it’s tucked away in peaceful parkland, the hotel is surprisingly close to Nottingham’s music scene—just a short drive or taxi ride to key venues. After a night of standing and dancing, guests appreciate the quiet surroundings for winding down. While check-in starts at 16:00, early arrivals can explore the lovely walking and cycling trails. The check-out is at 09:30, so it’s best for early risers or folks heading out for a day of sightseeing.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a budget-friendly base
Solo travelers attending a big-name gig in the city
Couples wanting a peaceful post-show stay
Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
Budget-conscious music fans who don’t mind a short commute

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t offer 24/7 dining, there are on-site snack and café options during the day. For more variety, Nottingham city centre’s pubs and eateries are only 10 minutes away. If you’re heading out late, you may want to plan for dinner in the city. Breakfast is available to help you recharge after a night out.

Nightlife Options

The real nightlife is in Nottingham itself, where you’ll find bars, pubs, and clubs close to the city’s music venues. Back at the hotel, the vibe is calm, perfect for crashing after a big night. No on-site live music or bar, so it's best for those who want their nightlife off-site but their sleep uninterrupted.

What People Say

Guests love the peaceful location and free parking, especially when attending events nearby. The friendly staff and proximity to Nottingham are also major pluses. Many mention the variety of outdoor activities nearby as a fun daytime bonus.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are basic and a bit no-frills—think more “functional” than “luxury.” The early check-out time (09:30) can be a challenge after a late night. Some guests note that the WiFi can be spotty in certain areas.

The Bottom Line

A quiet, budget-friendly stay just outside the city—ideal for concert-goers who want to unwind surrounded by nature after a night of music.

Nice area, terrible organisation regarding...

Liked: Nice surroundings. Comfortable bed
Disliked: Twice over the weekend people barged into our room. On one occasion the person suggested we were in the wrong room even though we’d already been there for two days. Staff constantly asking when we were checking out and literally zero interaction in terms of the PIN codes needed for entry and egress in the building. Really not impressed with how they run things and for the price we paid for the accommodation, you’d really expect much better. Won’t be back

Poor with poorer aspects

Liked: It was quiet. It had a good gym.
Disliked: It was not a hotel as I thought it would be. It was a sports centre. There was no a 24-hour reception as advertised and I had to wake up a night porter when I arrived later than planned. It was not clear where the accommodation either from the road or when on site. It was and it was pitch black. Nobody could be contacted until I eventually found the entrance to the sports centre. The room was as basic as possible and was cold. The key was an old fashioned key and there was no safe. There was not much storage space. The cafe was closed while I was there and had to rely on a vending machine and Uber Eats. Altogether unimpressed.
