Holiday Inn St Augustine - World Golf By IHG

This motel is a good place to stay if you want to be close to the World Golf Hall of Fame. Our grandson was competing in a GPA Golf competition and we enjoyed being so close.

Liked: The room was clean; there was an ice machine in the hall; the breakfast was good.
Disliked: We did not think anything was bad.

Liked: The Hotel is in a great location, nice property.
Disliked: The Facilities need some TLC The carpets in the hallways were stained and dirty. The vents in the hallways were rusted. The couches in the hall by the elevator were old and the corners dirty and worn cloth. I get that this is in Florida, but it just showed a lack of care. The staff member that checked me in was so quiet in her speaking, like a whisper and no eye contact. in the wrong job. The staff member that checked me out was great. Breakfast was HORRIBLE. The listing and hotel pushed that they had a full service kitchen. Maybe so, but they are not using it. I turned down bacon, which I never do. It was limp, not cooked and the few pieces in the pan were sitting in water. So i chose the turkey sausage, my last choice of meats. The sausage was COLD. Not just warm, but COLD even though I took it out of a warming tray. The eggs were AWFUL. Not fresh eggs, I left the hotel and went to breakfast, so I had to pay twice for breakfast. The room was Ok, it was clean and recently redone. cheap floors but otherwise nice. Will I stay there again. probably not.

A disappointing stay in what...

Liked: I would've thought that a Holiday Inn Express with the IHG association was going to be a more 'upkept' property but I was far from that assumption so there was not much to like about the whole place.
Disliked: Almost everything about this property could've been better. The carpets in the hallways were horrendously dirty, bleach stained & putrid looking. The caulking around the tub in the bathroom was cracking, messy & just awful to see. The entire place, inside & out, needs a good power wash & paint job. The grounds are unkept & the grass; uncut. Let's not even talk about the less than appetizing breakfast that I'm glad was a sort of 'package' purchase with my room because at the price of $16.00 per person, I wouldn't expect such slim pickings as was this less than Waffle House quality of breakfast.

Liked: Property is beautiful and the pool is clean and cool even for July. Beds were soft and comfortable, room was clean and smelled great!
Disliked: Breakfast could have been better, especially for almost $20/person. Biscuits were hard and didn’t seem fresh, bacon was swimming in grease. They did have blackberries and blueberries but no yogurt or granola. My daughter loved the hashbrowns and Froot Loops! Maybe also offer grits in conjunction with the oatmeal as this is the south after all. Find something to keep bacon slightly elevated so it’s not laying in grease, and install a cold bar to keep yogurt, fresh fruit, boiled eggs and other options like cottage cheese cold.
