The Spotlight on Holiday Inn Savannah Historic District By IHG

Historic Charm Meets Music Weekend Convenience

Modern comfort in a historic setting, the Holiday Inn Savannah Historic District By IHG is perfectly placed in the heart of downtown Savannah. Just a two-minute stroll from River Street and close to many live music venues, this stylish hotel blends Southern hospitality with contemporary amenities. With a seasonal outdoor pool, free WiFi, and a short 20-minute drive from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, it's a convenient base for any music-filled getaway.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’ll love how walkable this location is—several venues, bars, and restaurants are just minutes away, making it easy to catch a show and wander home at your own pace. Guests mention the hotel is surprisingly quiet at night, offering a great balance between downtown energy and a restful retreat. The 4 PM check-in time is ideal for those arriving early to explore, and with River Street right outside your door, late-night food and drink options are always nearby.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking to explore Savannah’s nightlife after the show
- Solo travelers ticking an artist off their bucket list
- Couples planning a romantic concert weekend
- Fans who want a quiet space to recover after dancing all night
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want comfort and location without overspending

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no full-service restaurant on-site, the hotel’s location more than makes up for it. You're within walking distance of a wide variety of local eateries and bars. Grab a bite on River Street after the show or start your morning with a coffee from your in-room Keurig. Late-night dining is easy with nearby options open well past midnight, and breakfast spots abound for a lazy morning after the encore.

Nightlife Options

You're in the heart of Savannah’s nightlife scene. From speakeasies and jazz lounges to rooftop bars and cozy pubs, there’s something for every kind of music fan. While there’s no live music on-site, the hotel’s proximity to multiple venues more than makes up for it. Prefer a nightcap? Nearby bars serve up local craft beers and cocktails with Southern flair.

What People Say

Reviewers praise the location as unbeatable for downtown exploration and concert-going. Guests appreciate the friendly staff, clean rooms, and comfortable beds. Many also love the convenience of walking to both shows and Savannah’s top attractions. The pool and fitness center are nice bonuses for those squeezing in a little relaxation or a morning workout.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention the rooms could use a refresh, and parking can be a bit pricey and tight. Occasional noise from street traffic might be noticeable on weekends, but earplugs or a sound machine (or a good post-concert exhaustion) should do the trick.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort, the Holiday Inn Savannah Historic District By IHG hits all the right notes.

Mildew in bath. My husband and I did not shower. Charged for nit-picky stuff i.e. newspaper. Parking was $50.

Liked: Location.
Disliked: Beds were old and lumpy. Sheets thin and worn out.

James H, Hinesville GA, visiting Johnny Mercer Theatre

Displeased with accommodation. Ice machine not working/no drink machine in building. No refrigerator in room. Room too small. No remote for TV. No sign to entrance, almost causing an accident upon arrival. Sewer like odor in the evening. Under renovation but still paying flat rate. I have contacted the main office of Holiday Inn and have not yet received a rebate or my money back.

Liked: Comfortable bed.
Disliked: No signs indicating entrance; hotel under renovation but still required to pay full rate.

Mildew smell in rooms, lack...

Liked: Location is good, walking distance to everything.
Disliked: We chose that hotel over another because it had a pool. The pool was green, "under construction" but we saw no evidence of construction. Unhappy husband.Upon entering the room, we were welcomed by a good old mildew smell, and the door wouldn't lock behind me. Slammed it a couple of times, still didn't lock. They were gracious enough to give us another room. Room #2 smelled equally mildewy. Old looking rug with mildew in AC with view over the green pool. At $235 per night, mildew is NOT OK. It's gross.I live in Florida, there are plenty of hotels in Orlando that don't smell like mildew. Being in the "South" is not an excuse. It's lack of maintenance.

Overall, I was happy with...

Liked: Location, comfort and cleanliness was good. Staff was great, with the exception of one opportunity. I asked the night attendant for a late checkout, she confirmed but did not input the request in the system. It made for an awkward moment on the day of checkout. The attendant the next morning was extremely gracious in handling the situation.
Disliked: The TVs could be upgraded for streaming services.
